Janhvi Kapoor is all set to make her Bollywood debut in Karan Johar’s Dhadak opposite Ishaan Khatter next week. In order to celebrate her stepping into the industry, she was spotted visiting Tirupati Balaji Temple with father Boney Kapoor and sister Khushi Kapoor. The actress looked beautiful and at peace in a traditional attire while Khushi wore a half saree.
Janhvi also spoke about her mother, Sridevi, wanting to keep her away from Bollywood and having to convince her for an acting career. “I told my mom and she said, ‘Please reconsider your decision’. She always felt that I am too naive. Mom and dad are very protective of me. They didn’t think I was equipped to deal with the non-creative aspect of filmmaking. Mom wasn’t too happy. She felt she had worked so hard to give her children an easy life,” said Janhvi to a leading daily about Sridevi’s reaction.
“It didn’t take a lot of convincing because they knew I was serious about it. They just told me that acting doesn’t mean looking pretty and reading the lines. I knew that, so I wanted to do it,” the actress admits to being sheltered and going out of her way to convince her parents about her career.
She also confessed about not wanting Sridevi on the sets of Dhadak. “I had even told her that I don’t want her to come on sets, ever. That ‘I don’t want you to see what I am doing till I’m fully done with it, I don’t want you to tell me how I should do it and let me do this on my own,” the 21-year-old told PTI in a recent interview. “She supported me a lot but I think both of us were clear that she wanted this to be my own journey. I remember reading lines with her around. But she never said ‘Do it like this or that’. She would always say, ‘I want you to find this on your own, do it on your own’,” she recalls.
