Janhvi Kapoor’s long, luscious locks have always fascinated me. Wherever she goes, be it a holiday in the Maldives or attending an awards show, a voluminous mane follows. I was so intrigued by how she maintains her hair that I did some research and discovered something bizarre while at it.
Kapoor applies something unexpected to the hair, and I’m not talking eggs or mayo. I’m talking beer. Yes, you read that right. Read on to know why she does so.
Why Beer Can Help Your Hair
Studies suggest that beer can strengthen your follicles, enhance growth, soften the hair, and so on. This is possibly because it’s composed of antioxidants, B vitamins, proteins, and other hair-loving components.
The beverage is a source of selenium and silicone. A deficiency in either can cause more hair breakage. Beer is rich in vitamin B as well. That’s why you might notice your hair feeling softer, shinier, and silkier post-application. This is because B vitamins provide more oxygen to your follicles, allowing the hair to grow faster and stronger.
Beer contains hops and malts too. These proteins are active ingredients that are said to reverse damage and nourish follicles; resulting in thicker, healthier, and more bodied growth. The proteins will bind with your cuticles, realign your cells, and make hair look and feel smooth.
Another set of ingredients contained in the drink includes zinc, folate, calcium, biotin, and vitamin D. A lack of these can trigger breakage as well as extreme hair-loss conditions like androgenic alopecia and telogen effluvium.
Opt for non-alcoholic beer to prevent your hair from drying out.
How To Use Beer In Hair Care
Incorporate beer into your routine as a post-shampoo rinse. Simply shampoo and condition your mane first. Then, pour about 200 ML of beer over your scalp and strands; massaging it in well. Leave it on for about 15 minutes before rinsing it off with water. You can repeat this once a week to see the results.
I know I’m putting this to the test ASAP.
