After Gangubai’s Success, This Alia Bhatt Movie Might Get A Sequel Soon & We’re So Excited About It
If you have not watched Gangubai Kathiawadi yet, then you need to rectify this mistake stat. While director Sanjay Leela Bhansali has done a fab job at capturing the real spirit of Mumbai’s red-light areas, it’s an Alia Bhatt show altogether. The actress has given a powerful performance in the movie and after watching her as Gangubai, we simply cannot get enough of her. While she has a few projects in the pipeline, we are waiting for another Alia-centric film that will blow our minds once again. Right on cue, we have some strong reasons to believe that our wishes are going to turn into reality soon. One of the cast members of Raazi has revealed that the movie might get a sequel and now we’re so excited!
The patriotic thriller, directed by Meghna Gulzar, remains one of the best movies of Alia to date. She played the role of Sehmat, an ordinary girl who becomes an international spy for her country. She’s trained for the task by officer Khalid Mir, played by actor Jaideep Ahlawat. During an interview with a leading daily, he revealed that while the director has not spoken to the cast and crew about a sequel as of now, there’s a definite scope for a second instalment.
Raazi was closely based on the book, Calling Sehmat, authored by Harinder Singh Sikka. Alia’s character in the book and the movie was able to successfully complete her task and survive at the end of the story. Jaideep agrees that it is a valid reason for the makers to consider a sequel to the film, but with an entirely different storyline. During another interview with a leading daily, Meghna dropped some hints about Raazi 2 as well. She said that while she’s not planning on continuing Sehmat’s story due to other projects, she could change her mind as the sequel of the book, was in the making.
She said, “I think a sequel to the book is coming out, that would be the starting point for whatever has to begin (sequel) if it happens. Right now, I have other films in mind. For me, as a filmmaker, what we wrote in Raazi completed Sehmat’s journey.”
On the other hand, Vicky Kaushal, who played Alia’s husband in the movie, earlier revealed in an interview that he would happily be a part of Raazi 2. He said that he’s up for doing a cameo in the film as well because it held a special place in his heart. He said, “If Raazi 2 is ever made, I’ll do it even if I have one scene because it is a human story, which invokes deep passions. It presents real feelings of people living on both the sides of the border.”
Well, to watch Alia as Sehmat again will truly be something, eh? We hope that our manifestation works and Meghna listens to our wishes soon.
