The fringe benefits of your bestie getting married? New clothes!
The downside, finding new trends to get new outfits stitched in. Scratching your head on how to upgrade that simple dupatta or an old choli for the upcoming wedding season? We have a suggestion, or two, tassels and fringes!
Our eagle-eyed selves have started to spot early signs of the next big thing to happen to Indian wear this season, fringed layered and tasselled hems. Some of our favourite designers and stylists have been showcasing this style in a number of unique ways for you to take notes from. Shilpa Shetty made an appearance in a dreamy lehenga choli with a long fringe overlay on the bustier choli.
Sleeves have been taking centre stage for top trends this season. Manish Malhotra showed us how you can upgrade your regular sleeves to a fringed one and Kriti Sanon kept it low key with a subtle fringe detail on her sleeve hem.
Adding tassel or fringe details to your hems are a great way to add that extra unique detail your needs to stand out. Parineeti Chopra added some feminine extra lengths to her long kurta with delicate tassels. Ace design house Diva’ni Couture used these trims and gave a fun twist to a lehenga blouse.
Jewelled and embellished tassels and fringes are another way that this trend has been used to add extra body. Tarun Tahiliani’s latest collection features an array of contemporary saree blouses accentuated with fringing. And Pooja Hegde matched her pearl bangles with similarly embedded tassels on her choli hem.
We are all for this new avatar of our favourite ethnic pieces. If you are a beginner with this look, we would subtle layering of fringes and dainty tassel details to start with. Keep it minimalistic until you are well versed in how to wear the trend.
