While Cricket is the crowning glory of our country when it comes to sports, it seems like our national sport, hockey, isn’t far behind anymore. On Sunday, the Indian junior women’s team won the 3-Nations hockey tournament held in Australia.
While the Indian team lost it’s final match to the host country, going down 1-2, it still won the tournament. This is because India had seven points from four matches. Australia made it to the second place while the team from New Zeland finished third.
In the final match between Australia and India, Gagandeep Kaur won our country it’s first goal in the 53rd minute, cancelling out Australia’s score, which was made by Abigail Wilson in the 15th minute. However, minutes after Gagandeep’s goal, Abigail scored a second goal in the 56th minute, bringing Australia to the winning score of 2-1.

Despite suffering their first loss of the tournament, by losing the match to Australia, the Indian team won the competition by finishing top on the points table (beating Australia by a goal’s difference). We are so proud of our team and hope they continue to win India laurels!
