It was my birthday yesterday and my parents decided to make my 23rd extra special. I woke up to my favourite breakfast – pancakes with caramelised bananas and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Ice cream in the morning is the best wake-up call ever. As I was about to take my car to work, my dad tells me, “That won’t work!” and hands me the keys to my new Merc! It felt like I had won a lottery or something. Just when I got in my new car, my phone started ringing so loudly the whole car started to vibrate…
…And then Celine Dion stopped singing in my earphones and I woke up from my nap in the metro! Damn you, Titanic soundtrack.
No, I haven’t won any lottery (of course, lotteries are banned in Delhi, but a woman can dream). My filmy dream sequence got us all talking at work about our own crazy wishlist. So here’s the first thing that we’d buy should we ever win a lottery.
1. The Botanical Beauty
It’s appraisal season at POPxo, and am thinking of actually messaging my boss this link saying “You don’t need to give me a raise, just buy me this jacket” (wink.) Seriously though, I really like Alexander McQueen Jackets (Rs 1,32,275) and trousers, love how they fit me, and I find Sarah Burton’s prints to be timeless.

2. Gucci Gang, Oh Yeah!
Having a fetish for bags, I believe that I can never have TOO many of them. Adding a little quirk to my outfits is my secret to a fashion upgrade. This time keeping it chic and choosing my Floral Patch Leather Shoulder Bag ( Rs 2,54,243) by Gucci.

3. I’ll Be On My Suit & Tie!
Nothing beats a well-stitched suit. It’s evergreen. The Regent Fit Sharkskin 1818 Suit (Rs 1,04,400) by Brooks Brothers is what I’ve my eyes on.
– Manas Dewan, Account Manager
4. A Birkin, Baby!
Ever since I saw Sex And The City, I wanted to be the girl with the timeless Birkin (Rs 7,00,000) by Hermès. It’s not a bag, it’s an investment. Also, I might want to take a trip outside India with the same lottery money to get myself this bag. Pretty fancy, huh? I know!

5. Draw Me Like One Of Your Trench Girls!
My obsession with trench coats began with Audrey Hepburn’s rain-soaked final scene of Breakfast At Tiffany’s. That has put Burberry’s trenches, both in plain and signature checked designs, on my radar for the longest time. A lottery win is just the thing I need to wear the Tartan Trench Coat (Rs 1,67,500) and feel like the legendary leading ladies from classic fashion films!

6. I’ll Have Some Louboutin To Go
My love for heels is unexplainable, and bonus points for having glitter on them. Does a lottery mean a separate shoedrobe? A big yes from my side! Now all I want is to wait for some magic beans to come my way so I can splurge on these So Kate Heels (Rs 45,051) by Christian Louboutin.
– Saachi Bamba, Editorial Coordinator
7. McQueen For The Queen
He was the first designer I discovered and since then my favourite. I fell in love with McQueen’s obsession with black, and when he passed away, I swore to myself that I would get an original Alexander McQueen Box Bag (Rs 2,03,351) one day. Still waiting for it.

8. A Fedora For The Lady
I have had a fascination for milliners ever since I did a story on London’s top hat makers. The royal family pulls off the most outrageous pieces on big events. So, if I ever win the lottery, I will travel to London and get myself an appointment with hat maker Jane Taylor (who designs for real-life princesses) and get myself this Giada Hat (Rs 1,12,860). And then, of course, I’d flaunt my handcrafted headpiece at the Royal Ascot.

9. Chanel Boy Is The Only Boy For Me!
If I ever win the lottery, I know exactly what I am splurging that cash on – the Chanel Boy (Rs 3,13,500). All iconic and legendary women swear by this baby and I have always dreamed of owning it. Just the sight of this bag makes me happy and can cure the worst of my moods. Investing in this boy will guarantee one thing for sure- no heartbreaks!
