Show Your Skin Some Love This Long Weekend With This Multi Masking Routine!

As the long weekend approaches, it is the PERFECT time for you to give some extra TLC to your skin and even get some cool Insta stories. The skin on your face though is uniform, different areas of your face are sometimes starkly different from each other. If your entire face is similar and has the same needs, you’ve hit the genetic motherload and you should know that I will probably be jealous of your existence for life. But when it comes to mere mortals, there are various zones on your face that are facing various problems. Of course, we all know the T-zone and that zone is usually oily, but there are other areas as well. A part of our face is a desert (not a double ‘s’, I know you’re hungry!), in need of extreme moisture, whereas another area needs deep pore cleansing, and another just needs some TLC and a solution for pigmentation. So when you are using a mask or any skin product on your entire face, it may or may not work wonders. The solution? Multi masking.

As the name suggests, the idea is to apply different masks that tackle different areas of your face to get the maximum benefits of the masks on your skin. It is like contour and highlight but with masks. Let’s break down the areas.

T-Zone

Most of us know this. This is the area that includes the forehead, nose and chin – drawing a T, vertically on your face. Usually, this area is a little oily and is more prone to larger pores, blackheads and whiteheads. Though usually, breakouts on the chin are mostly hormonal and related to digestive issues. This area needs a detoxifying, cleansing and purifying mask. Bonus if it is one that deals with breakouts!

POPxo recommends: Mamaearth Charcoal, Coffee and Clay Face Mask, (Rs 537); L’Oreal Paris Pure Clay Mask Purify & Mattify (Rs 680)

Cheek And Jawline

I feel like this area is the least troublesome area on your face, apart from a few minor hormonal breakouts, this area is usually clear. Of course, if you have acne-prone skin, then the story is different for you, but that is the best part about multi masking. You get to give yourself a custom mask sesh every single time. So, usually, if you have normal/combination skin, this area just needs a boost of hydration and some anti ageing while you’re at it. I suggest you use a hydration boosting mask. If you have any breakouts in that area, I have this trick. Just use a Q-tip or dot some spot treatment on those patches only.

POPxo recommends: ENN Berry Bang Anti Ageing Face Mask, (Rs 720); Aromatherapy Associates Hydrating Rose Hydrating Face Mask, (Rs 5,130)

Nose

I know I already covered this area in the T-zone but I also wanted to mention it separately. My nose has a lot of blackheads, and it definitely needs some major pore cleaning action. So I use either a pore cleansing peel off strip or mask specifically in this area to get rid of the impurities.

POPxo recommends: Charcoal Nose Mask – Blackhead Removal Strip (Rs 293)

Eyes

We have all heard that the skin around the eyes is thinner than the rest of your face. Which also means apart from signs of ageing it is also prone to dryness. Apply a hydrating pack in the area and keep it until you absolutely have to rinse it off.

POPxo recommends: L’Oreal Paris Hydrafresh Anti-Ox Grape Seed Hydrating Mask-In Eye Gel, (Rs 399)

Lips

Don’t just balm and leave, your lips need TLC too! While you’re waiting for your masks to dry, give your lips a scrub and moisturise sesh or then you can use one of those gel patches to give your lips a boost of collagen infused moisture.

POPxo recommends: MaskerAide Tell Me Pout It Hydrating Lip Mask, (Rs 475)

Things To Keep In Mind While Multi Masking

1. Apply the masks in the order of which they need to be removed. So the mask that has to stay on your face the longest goes on first and then depending on the time the rest of them follow. THIS so that rinsing at the end of the session becomes easy.

2. This whole ordeal does require some time, patience and research about exactly what your skin needs.

3. Yes, it might not be cost effective entirely if you’re using one-time use masks. So make sure you invest in jars and bottles so you get more use out of them.

4. Remember to give your skin a thorough cleanse before you apply your masks and just a simple clarifying rinse after.

5. Even if you have used hydration boosting masks, your skin will need a proper coat of moisturiser after the rinse in the end.

Well, I hope this helps you with your skin concerns as it has with mine!

Pssst… We’re working on a major change. Tune in to POPxo.com on 2nd April to know more!
