I bet this quarantine has turned most of us into beauty scientists as we are constantly whipping out kitchen ingredients to make fun DIY face mask recipes! You name it, and I bet my gorgeous fellow colleagues must’ve tried at least one of them! One such mask that always piqued my interest is a peel-off mask! I cannot get enough of those ASMR peeling videos on the ‘Gram.
Peeling off a mask after it has completely dried off is one of the most satisfying feelings in the world. And just like us, if you cannot get enough of DIYs, we know exactly what you should be trying this weekend.
Peel Off Masks: Made With Love And Kitchen Ingredients
Peel-off masks have gained a lot of popularity in the last few years. Everything from a colourful peel-off mask to glitter one is available to be tried out. Apart from acting as a stunning faux #InstagramFilter, they help remove dead skin cells, dirt, unclog pores, and reduce acne.
Time to make your own:
Eggs And Lemon Mask
You’ll need:
– 1 egg (white).
– 1 tbsp. lemon juice.
– 5-6 tissue papers.
In a bowl, add the egg white and lemon juice and mix it well for a minute. Apply a thin layer of the mask all over your face and then stick a layer of tissue papers. Apply the mask again, followed by a layer of tissue paper. Repeat this thrice and let your mummified face dry for 20-30 minutes and then peel it off.
This mask will successfully remove blackheads from your face as lemon juice contains alpha-hydroxy acid while egg whites will help tighten up pores.
Aloe Vera Mask
You’ll need:
– 3 tbsp. gelatin powder
– Fresh aloe vera gel
– Green teabags
Soak two green tea bags in boiling water and add gelatin in it. Mix it well and add 2 tbsps. of freshly plucked aloe vera gel. Once all is mixed well, allow the mixture to cool down. Apply your DIY peel-off mask all over your face and let it dry for 30 minutes. Peel it off for a gorgeous glow.
Charcoal Mask
You’ll need:
– Activated charcoal
– 1 1/2 tbsp of gelatin powder
– Water
In a bowl, add gelatin powder and 1 tbsp of activated charcoal. Mix it well and add 2 tbsps. of water. Since gelatin powder has a thick consistency, you can microwave the mixture to remove lumps. Once it cooled down, apply it all over your face. If you think its too thick, add more water. Let it dry for 15 minutes and then peel it off.
Always remember that taking care of your skin is more important than covering it up. Period.
