The strength that we women possess is unmatchable. Just look at all the amazing women around us aspiring to do greater, to do better every single day. One such fine example is Hima Das. In an unforgettable moment yesterday, Indian sprinter Hima marked history by winning the gold medal in the 400 m finals at the 2018 IAAF World U20 athletics championship in Tampere, Finland.
The 18-year-old Assamese girl clocked in at 51.46 seconds to claim the top spot leaving Andrea Miklos from Romania and Taylor Manson from the United States of America behind. They both were qualified for silver and gold at 52.07 and 52.28 seconds respectively.
Hima’s historic win is a matter of national pride since this is the first time India’s won a medal in the history of the IAAF’s U20 athletics event. And what better way to change that than with a gold?
Naturally, the wishes for her are pouring in from around the world and popular celebs like Farhan Akhtar, Amitabh Bachchan, and Akshay Kumar are over the moon. Even the office of Preseident Ram Nath Kovind was all praise for the young athlete. Here are some of the top tweets.
