When she isn’t surprising us with every type of braid you can think of, Alia gives us some fabulous curly-haired appearances that will make you want to embrace your natural kinks and bends. If Alia can rock these scrunched, messy curls to major awards functions, then you can definitely wear them anywhere! Read on to learn how to fake a perm like Alia Bhatt. Pick a technique that works for you – heat or no heat, and fall in love with the unruly affair!
Method 1 – Rag Curls
You Will Need:
- Take an old cotton t-shirt or sheet and cut it into strips that are an inch wide and about 5 inches long.
(If you want very tight curls, then you will need more rag strips – about 15 to 20. And if you want looser, bouncier curls, then you will need less of them – about 7 to 10.)
Step 1: Wash your hair – when it is damp but not too wet, is when you should put your rag curlers in. Divide your hair into 4 sections first – 2 in the front and 2 in the back.
Step 2: Starting with the top section – take a 1-inch wide section of hair, hold the strip horizontally and wrap the ends around it. Then, roll it upwards towards your scalp, and then tie a knot with your strip. Make sure it’s a tight knot to hold the curl.
Step 3: Repeat this all over, so that all your hair is tied in rag curls and let it stay for a few hours. You can leave it overnight or blast some heat from your hair dryer over your head after a few hours.
Step 4: Untie all the rag curls – you can even cut them off if you want to, but be careful. Lightly run your fingers through your hair for a messy look, or brush it for looser curls. Apply a hairspray or gel for some extra hold, if you like.
Method 2 – Scrunching
You Will Need:
- Products like a volumizing mousse, a curl-enhancing cream or a strong-hold gel, which help enhance scrunching.
Step 1: Wash your hair. When it is still damp, apply a dime-sized amount of the product on your palms. Rub your hands together and start scrunching your hair with your hands and the product.
Step 2: Take small sections of your hair and scrunch them with your hands. Scrunching is like crumpling a piece of paper. So basically, crumple the ends of your hair towards the roots. Do this all over your head.
Step 3: Plop your scrunched hair into a scarf and a cotton t-shirt, which you can tie around your head so that no hair pops out. You can even tie your hair into scrunched buns. Basically, your strands need to set into the scrunched shape – so leave it like this for a few hours or even overnight.
Step 4: When you take your hair down, it should have a textured, curly look.
Create a side parting and pin the front portion of your hair onto the side, just like Alia!
