It is a fact universally acknowledged that the siblings and cousins have way more fun than the bride and groom at an Indian wedding. To cut it short–they are the life of the party and most weddings would become rather dull if it weren’t for them. But with great power comes great responsibility. With all eyes on them, the siblings are always required to bring out their A-game in the fashion department. Nothing less counts! And just in case that sounds like a huge undertaking, we have just the inspiration you need– actress Hansika Motwani’s recent ‘dulhe-ki-behen avatar‘.
Hansika’s Brother Prashant Motwani recently tied the knot with his long-time girlfriend and as the groom’s sister, the actress left no stone unturned to leave us smitten with her outfits. From traditional lehengas to glamm gowns, she wore it all. Here is all the inspiration that we are drawing from her ‘dulhe-ki-behen‘ looks:
D-Day Classics: Hansika’s Ivory Finery
For her brother’s D-Day, Hansika opted for a dreamy, ivory lehenga set. Set in luxurious silk, the lehenga featured mirror-work panels and was paired with an airy, organza dupatta. We are definitely in love with the standout hue and think it’s the perfect shade to make an impact without looking overwhelming. Keeping the look traditional, Hansika opted for a jadau necklace, earrings, and bangles. An intricate matha patti was added to complete the look and we think the headgear really did steal the show. Also, don’t miss out on how Hansika went for the classic mogra gajra as her standout hair embellishment.
Sangeet Night Glam: The Red Carpet Worthy Look
Perfectly embracing the ‘glitz and glamour’ theme, Hansika opted for a high-octane glamm gown for her brother’s sangeet. The Shivani Awasthy outfit featured a fitted evening gown and tasseled embellishments strategically placed to create a dripping gold effect. A layer of drama was added to the look with a detachable tulle skirt featuring whimsically scattered handwork. This is a hundred percent show-stopping look and we’d bet all our money on that add-on skirt any day!
And while we might not be big on the diamond jewels clashing with her outfit’s gold hue, we’d recommend Hansika’s nude makeup look to you in a heartbeat. Here’s how you can re-create the look:
Pretty In Pink: The Glorious Post-Mehendi Party Outfit
For the post-mehendi party outfit, Hansika opted for a pink Abhinav Mishra lehenga. Especially on our fashion radar is Hansika’s blouse and its scallop detailing on the hem and sleeves.
The actress opted for an offbeat matha patti featuring a delicate chain instead of a wide headband that we usually see. Winner!
Comfy But Make It Chic: The Easy Going Mehendi Function Look
It’s always wise to go light and comfy when dressing up for the mehendi function given that you’d have a lot to handle once your hands are all henna-covered. Well, Hansika got the memo pretty well and opted for a boho Anamika Khanna number for the mehendi ceremony. The breezy anarkali featured multi-coloured motifs on the bodice and a clashing black and white print on the skirt. The overlapping neck was embellished with pink tassels and the actress completed her look with statement danglers by AZOTIIQUE.
We gotta say, Hansika really hit the ball out of the park with her ‘dulhe ki behen’ look.
