This Popular Eye Makeup Trend Just Got A 2020-Approved Makeover

We’re currently in the sixth month of self-isolation and masks have turned out to be the fashion accessories of the year. Since lipsticks have pretty much been canceled for the rest of 2020, we thought you should be paying more attention to eye makeup and let that be the star next time you’ve to step out of the house. While the classic smokey eye will always be everyone’s fav, don’t you think it’s a bit been there, done that?

Well, if you want to experiment with another trend that’s been doing the rounds for some time now, it’s the halo eyes. It’s a technique that calls for applying darker shades on the inner and outer corners of the lid and then packing a lighter, shimmery shade in the center.

While the earlier halo eye makeup trend was patented with meticulously carved out lids using contrasting shadows, the 2020 trend is more laid back and wearable. It’s easier to achieve and actually super versatile.

So, next time you’ve had a late-night Netflix binge, and need some help in looking awake during a Zoom meeting, try this trend out for an instant eye-brightening effect.

Negative Space Halo Eye

How to create this look:

Step 1: Prime your lids with eyeshadow primer or concealer and set it in place with translucent powder.

Step 2: Use a matte coloured shadow, in this case blue, and place it with a blending brush in the inner and outer corner of the eye.

Step 3: Use a neutral or white eyeshadow in the center of your lid and blend well. Use a clean fluffy brush in the crease as well to mesh all of it together.

Step 4: Draw a winged liner and coat your lashes with mascara and voila, you’re done.

Glitter Liner To Amp Up Your Look

How to create this look:

Step 1: Prime and set your eyelids with concealer and loose powder to avoid creasing.

Step 2: Start with a neutral pink eyeshadow in the crease and then deepen it with a poppy colour.

Step 3: Use a light, cool-toned eyeshadow like a mauve in the inner corner and outer corner and blend it out sightly leaving the centre part of the lid bare.

Step 4: Use a deeper greyish eyeshadow to enhance the colour and use windscreen wiper motions to blend it out.

Step 5: On a flat eyeshadow brush, take some concealer and place it on the centre of your lid and pack on a neutral colour to set it in place. Blend it all together to make it look seamless.

Step 6: Tightline your upper and lower waterline and use a glitter liner to draw a tiny flick.

Step 7: Use the same poppy shade along the lower lash line so that your makeup look looks put together.

Step 8: Put on some mascara and falsies if you want and you’re good to go!

Shimmer Shimmer

How to create this look:

Step 1: Prime your eyelids just as usual and then set the cream product in place with a powder.

Step 2: Use a warm, neutral-toned eyeshadow in the crease to create some depth. Then take a blending brush and add a brown eyeshadow to the inner and outer corners of the eyes.

Step 3: Blend it all well and then put some cream concealer to the center of your lids with your fingers.

Step 4: Take gold eyeshadow and place it on the concealer and then blend blend blend.

Step 5: Once you’re done, tight line with a brown eyeliner pencil and use the same neutral and brown eyeshadow on your lower lash line.

Step 6: Coat your lashes with mascara and see the marvel at your gorgeous artistry!
