Knowing how well your hair absorbs things like water, moisture, and hair care products can help you choose the right products. You can easily check your hair’s porosity by dropping a single strand of hair into a glass of water and examining the amount of moisture it absorbs. If your strand floats at the top, this indicates your hair has low porosity. If it floats in the middle, it has medium porosity. If it sinks, it has high porosity. Folks with low porosity can prioritize water-based products and lightweight oils that absorb quickly without feeling too heavy. Those with medium porosity can focus on strengthening treatments while those with high porosity can invest in leave-in oils and rich butters that lock moisture down for good.

Do: Pay Attention To Your Scalp

Remember happy scalp = healthy hair. It’s important to give your scalp a detox and nix any buildup to ensure better penetration of haircare products. Cleansing exfoliators and clarifying shampoos will give the scalp an all-over cleanse. We recommend doing a weekly scalp detox. In addition to that, it’s important to use scalp masks, serums, and SPFs, which are damn important ‘coz your scalp is always exposed to the sun.
