Guess Who Is Returning To Cannes Film Festival With DP This Year? Hint: She Killed It In 2019
It’s just a matter of a week before Deepika Padukone takes over the 2022 Cannes Film Festival red carpet and serves one glamm look after the other. The actress is on jury duty this year, which means that she’ll be attending the festival every day from May 17th to May 28th. Now, isn’t that exciting? The only Cannes update that’s not sitting well with us at the moment is that Sonam Kapoor won’t be going this year. She is expecting her first child with Anand Ahuja and has taken a break from the film festival. But this is not to say that DP will be the only Indian fashionista to walk the Cannes red carpet in 2022. Aditi Rao Hydari’s debut has already been confirmed this year and some reports suggest that Aishwarya Rai will be joining them as well. And just when we thought that the tally was closed, we hear another Indian actress will be joining these Bollywood divas. The name has us hella excited and you’ll be equally elated when we tell you that it’s *drumrolls* Hina Khan!
According to a popular entertainment media platform, Hina is returning to French Riviera this year to launch the poster of her upcoming Indo-English movie, Country of Blind. A little birdie tells us that, “Hina and her whole film’s team are extremely excited to launch the poster of their film at the Cannes Film Festival. Just like the last time, Hina will make sure that her fashion game is on point and has already begun work on that front.”
We look forward to Hina’s Cannes 2022 fashion inning. Following her successful debut in 2019, we have high hopes for her in the fashion department and are sure that she will live up to them. With that thought, we also hope that the Indian fashion fraternity has will be more supportive this time.
Earlier in an interview, Hina had talked about the prejudices that she has faced from the Indian designers just because she started her career on television. “All these big designers in India still look down upon TV. ‘What, kisko dena hai? Oh, we don’t do TV!’ They won’t give it to you. Trust me, that divide is there” she said while talking about how she had to rely on international designers like Ziad Nakad and Alin Le Kal for her red carpet appearance.
Well, now that Hina has proven what she is capable of, we expect to see big Indian designer labels backing her for the 2022 Cannes Film Festival. It will be a shame if they do not!
