Didn’t we all read the magical story of Cinderella while growing up? I think there’s something about her rags to riches story and the imagery of her larger than life ball gown that makes it truly cathartic. I, for one, have always found immense relief in the story and more than that in the thought of gowns so gorgeous that they literally make you forget about everything else.
Same reason why my phone is constantly in lack of memory–the endless carousel of gown images! You might come across a beige Falguni Shane Peacock, the hems of which are accentuated with crimson accents, a flawless Sherri Hill number which is just too gorgeous to be true or a flouncy beauty dipped in an eccentric colour screenshotted on a moody day. Believe it or not, there are days when the ethereal beauty of these gowns lifts up my mood and comes to my rescue. This holds true now more than ever!
As we sit quarantined in our homes wondering about what is to happen next, all of us can do with a little respite. And what’s better for the purpose than a collection of gowns so beautiful that you are sure to overlook everything right from their hefty prices to all your quarantine woes. This one is especially for the eyes, so scroll through!
Falguni Shane Peacock
Right from its whimsical crystal work to the pigeon grey colour, there is something about this Falguni Shane Peacock gown that suggests pure symphony. I mean you wouldn’t expect anything less for a whopping price of Rs 9,95,000, right? Someday!
Manish Malhotra
This Manish Malhotra wonder had my heart the moment I laid my eyes on it. I mean just look at the colour on colour embroidery on the flimsy bodice balanced by the sprawling roses on the hem. There is no missing out on how beautifully the crimson embroidery merges with the blood-red. If only we could see poetry, this is what it must look like! This one is priced at Rs 3,50,000 and I am not complaining! Well, maybe a little.
Amit Aggarwal
There happens to be something ethereal about Amit Aggarwal’s 3D creations that make them absolutely irresistible and avant-grade. This one is gorgeous for its structured make as well as that bejewelled emerald hue. Priced at Rs 2,25,000, this one is no short of an investment.
Karleo
How often do you come across a white gown that isn’t bridal? Seldom, right? This one is special for exactly that reason and at Rs 2,43,000, nicely retains the value. This one is a vision with its flared silhouette. Not the mention the high-neck is adding just the right amount of drama to the outfit.
Siddartha Tytler
Intricately embroidered and dipped in the sombre shade of black, doesn’t this Siddartha Tytler gown look like a forbidden fruit that all of us would like a taste of? Priced at Rs 1,20,000 this uber-glamorous gown has something about it that lingers in your memory.
Bhawana Rao
Okay, should I begin with the fish-cut ruffles or the sprinkle of sequins on that muted pink hue? Honestly, at Rs 95,000, all of it looks like a sure shot steal! I simply cannot get over the finesse of cutdana embroidery incorporated in this gorgeous outfit!
Dhwaja
Would this list even be complete without the hottest colour of the season i.e. lilac? Well, this Dhwaja gown and its beautifully crafted bodice serve the purpose just right. This one is priced at Rs 50,400 and looks fairly grand for the price point to me.
Sherri Hill
Just pause and admire this Sherri Hill and all its delicious hues because that’s the kind of reverence that it truly deserves. A glittery tulle Sherri Hill gown is literally every prom queen’s dream and this one with its beaded triple waistband just hits perfection. Priced at Rs 45,342, this one is brimming of sorbet sundaes, unicorns, and all my beautiful dreams!
MAC Duggal
Oh, the ombre pink and blue and layers and layers of pleated tulle in this MAC Duggal gown! Draped, floundered and finished with some glitter dust, doesn’t this one look like it came straight out of a fairytale? It’s priced at Rs 40,517. TBH, it could have easily cost more and still be worth it!
Zwaan
This one made it to the list especially for its ruby hue and the way I felt just by looking at it. Take this from me, there is no looking away from whoever wears this two-toned taffeta beauty at any event whatsoever. Also, after reading all the outrageous prices, the Rs 18,900 tag on this one surely looks like a big big BIGGG steal!
Didn’t we just transport you to the fairyland for a while there?
