I’m Not A Fashion Enthusiast, But I Just Can’t Resist Rachel Green’s FRIENDS Wardrobe. Here’s Why
I love Friends, like most people. I remember binge-watching all 236 episodes in the 12th grade when I desperately needed a break from my studies. It took me a little over a week to complete the 10 seasons and establish what I now perceive as a lifelong commitment to the show. You see, it’s timeless.
Since my first time watching Friends, I have had these occasional phases where I go back to watching the complete season from scratch and then leave it for years until something clicks, and I’m back to square one. This time around I realised that I’d do anything to get Rachel Green’s entire wardrobe.
For starters, Green was a fashion enthusiast, and I inhabit the opposite side of the spectrum. I’m not big on fashion, per se. Regardless, I’ve always loved her outfits on the show. It doesn’t take too much to know that whatever she wore was everything synonymous to freakin awesome!
If I had to trace when I became so fond of Green’s wardrobe, I’d say it was almost instantaneous. The moment she wandered into the Central Perk wearing a wedding dress, looking clueless. Little did I know she’d look THIS fabulous for the complete show.
But her fashion influence is not solely my isolated individual experience. During season 2, her classic Rachel hairstyle went on to become the most copied celebrity hairstyle in the world. Her bouncy locks inspired scores of women who then all urged their hairstylists to mimic the iconic Rachel Green look.
Rachel’s career trajectory evolved every season. When she moved on from waitressing to finally following her passion and entering the fashion industry, she set a whole new precedent for corporate looks. Every work outfit she sported season after season was one mic drop after another. You really can’t get enough of her looks. I mean, just see for yourself –
But hey, Green always dressed according to the occasion, and completely owned it. Like, if she was going out to play –
Or jog –
Or a date –
Or attend an event
You see what I mean? Rachel knew what to wear and how to look stunning every time.
I understand fashion is personal. One should always wear what they are most comfortable in and what resonates with them. When I say I’m not as big of a fashion fanatic, it means I don’t necessarily keep up with trends. But I wouldn’t bat an eye if offered her entire wardrobe. I am aware it was from the 90s, but it’s timeless. I’d love it any given day.
