It’s always nice to see Indians being recognized for their work at international platforms. These wins feel very personal, and that’s exactly what we’ve been feeling after the International Emmy Awards. This time, Ekta Kapoor won the prestigious International Directorate Award, which is as important as it sounds.
With this, Ekta Kapoor also became the first Indian woman filmmaker to have received the award. The producer also shared a video post the win, with the caption: “India I’m bringing home YOUR Emmy.” Such a win also does so much for women in the country who have always wanted to make films, but it felt like a male-dominated industry.
“I’ve always wanted to tell stories because they give me a chance to be heard, seen and represented. I am grateful for the audience’s love that has opened doors for me, allowing me to transition from television to the world of films and OTT.”
Ekta Kapoor has always been known for her TV shows, and that still remains her legacy. However, her production house is constantly expanding to newer content, and for a platform like the Emmy Awards to witness that, is something.
The internet is feeling all good things.
It’s a good day for India. It’s also a good day for women.
