These 3-Ingredient DIY Hair Masks Will Transform Your Lifeless Hair

I absolutely dread oiling my hair for the fear of shampooing twice and thrice to get the oil out. My hair often feels dry, stripped of moisture and lifeless. I feel like the term ‘lazy girl hacks’ was coined for me. I don’t really use conditioner on a daily basis, or ever if I’m being honest. I am guilty of buying a new one every now and then, but it rarely ever ends up in my hair.

Over the years, I’ve tried some DIY hair masks using ingredients easily available at home. I make these easy hair masks using less than 3 household ingredients that are stocked in my kitchen. It makes washing your hair easier while hydrating and nourishing your hair. If there’s one ingredient all of my hair masks have in common, it’s coconut oil.

Are you tired of your dry, stripped of moisture and lifeless hair? Learn how to make hair mask at home for stronger and shiny hair.

The Overnight Bounce Mask

My absolute favourite DIY Hair Mask that takes less than 5 minutes to prepare. You need only 2 ingredients, four, if you’re feeling fancy.

What You’ll Need:

I buy one of those big tubs of Aloe vera gel you get at the chemist, pour in a little bit of coconut oil, put the lid back on and give it a good shake. The aloe vera gel will start to look whitish, like whipped cream. The tea tree oil and castor oil are totally optional, tea tree oil helps combat dandruff. So if that’s one of your concerns, add some tea tree oil. I apply this mixture to my scalp and hair about 2 hours before going to bed… It takes a while to dry. I wake up in the morning and shampoo my hair as usual and my hair feels soft, shiny and bouncy!

Frizz No More

This hair mask softens, smoothens and adds so much shine to your hair. And it’s no surprise. Honey is a natural humectant, it attracts moisture. Avocados are rich in fatty acids and work really well in repairing any damage to your mane while fighting frizz.

What you’ll need:

Put the ingredients in a blender and whip them until it makes for a smooth paste. You want to make sure the paste is not lumpy. It makes it really difficult to wash off those small lumps from your hair. If you think the mixture is too thick for your liking, add some water or an egg to make it thinner. Apply it to your hair and roots with a brush. Wash off after an hour or so. You won’t be able to stop touching your hair!

Get Silky, Soft Hair

Whip some yoghurt and coconut oil together until it makes a thick paste. Slather this onto your hair and roots. Put on a shower cap and snooze. If you don’t want to leave it on overnight, wash it off after an hour or so.
