Deepika Padukone & Hema Malini At The Dream Girl’s Book Launch Is B-Town Gossip Right Now
We’re only too familiar with the tagline Bollywood has bestowed on yesteryear’s actress, Hema Malini – the one and only Dream Girl who, even today, remains evergreen in every sense of the word. The lady is the epitome of beauty, grace and an ethereal glamour. So, it’s only natural for a book documenting her life and times to be launched in a fancy way.
Yes, folks, the legendary Hema Malini is the latest in the league of Bollywood legends to join the wall of ink; that is, the coveted spot of actors whose lives have been documented in pages.

The book, titled Beyond The Dream Girl, published under the HarperCollins India banner, was recently launched in Mumbai, amidst a star-studded event that saw prominent media persons gather to celebrate the eternal Dream Girl, on the day of her 69th birthday. The timing could not have been better, really. And what a gift to present her fans with, as well.
The book was launched by one of Bollywood’s current favourite leading ladies – Deepika Padukone who has become some sort of international star, too, in recent times. I mean, let’s hand it to her; she wasn’t half as bad as xXx: The Return Of Xander Cage, the movie was, in totality.
She’s all set to appear in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next, Padmavati. I’m sure you’re all too aware of her unmatched beauty in the trailer where she will be playing the royal Rajput queen, Padmavati (we still don’t know whether her existence was real or fabricated).
During the book launch, Hema Malini lauded Deepika with being one of the most promising and beautiful actors in the industry; calling her the ‘Dream Girl of today’s age.’
The book is Malini’s story since the time of her debut in the industry, back in 1968, in Sapnon Ke Saudagar, by Mahesh Kaul. The movie sealed Malini’s rise to fame in the industry and she became the quintessential dream girl.
The book, written by Ram Kamal Mukherjee sheds light on the more intimate details of the actress’ otherwise, private life. In the pages, it is revealed how Malini dealt with depression, herself, during the initial years of her emerging career. “I would not call it depression. It was not clinical but just a low phase of my life when I faced rejection for the first time. But then I learnt how to use that phase to work harder and make sure I get my first film,” she said at the launch, held on October 16th, 2017.
Needless to say, both the women really looked beautiful on the stage and every girl who has ever been a fan of Hema Malini – in her songs, or in her style – would definitely be on their way to purchasing the book.
The book is available for you to purchase on Amazon and is priced at Rs 439.
