The proverb old is gold certainly stands true in the case of the classic tale of Ramayan. The re-telecast of Ramayan during the lockdown last year kept us all hooked to our television sets and even went on to break all TRP records. So, naturally, when Nitesh Tiwari announced his plans of making an adaptation last year, we wondered if 2020 had any more surprises for us.
The ambitious project will be produced by Allu Aravind, Madhu Mantena and Namit Malhotra and will be directed by Nitesh Tiwari and Ravi Udyawar. With an impressive production budget of Rs 500 Crore, the three part movie will be shot in 3D. The movie will be released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu
Team Ramayana also revealed that the star cast includes actors from across the many film industries. A little birdie also told us that Bollywood heartthrob Hrithik Roshan was the first choice for the role of Ravana and has been roped in for the same. And the role of Ram is to be portrayed by the Prince of Tollywood, Mahesh Babu. Since then, fans have been eagerly waiting for any information on the female lead.
Well, the wait is finally over. We finally have some scoop on the female lead. There are two big names in the run-Deepika Padukone and Kareena Kapoor Khan. Yes, you read that right! Both Kareena Kapoor Khan and Deepika Padukone could possibly play the role of Sita in the hugely anticipated multi-starrer movie Ramayana.
Interestingly, Bebo was earlier supposed to star in Karan Johar’s mythological film. However, since the movie was shelved, the gorgeous actress was on the lookout for another mythological movie.
As for Deepika Padukone, we have all been awestruck with her acting skills in mythological movies like Bajirao Mastani and Padmavati. And if she is the one who will play the lead, she’s undoubtedly set to become the highest-paid actress.
We’re sure the makers are going to have a tough time deciding on who plays the lead and we certainly can’t wait for it!
