Ever since the outbreak of COVID-19 our lives have been completely disrupted. Any plans, goals, passions and projects we had planned have all been put on indefinite hold. The most affected by the lockdown, however, are couples. Especially those who were planning to get married in 2020. The global lockdown has made travel next to impossible. Amidst all this chaos, a couple in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh decided to tie the knot.
The couple took special permission from the government officials before tying the knot. Since the date was already fixed, they didn’t want to postpone their wedding any further. Surrounded by five members from each side of their families, this couple tied the knot in a Gurudwara, while keeping in mind all the social distancing norms.
Sehras, maang tikkas and nose rings were replaced with face masks and face shields. All the supplies used for the marriage ceremony were sanitized keeping in mind the COVID-19 guidelines. The garlands were sanitized too!
Commenting on the low-key wedding, Garvit Narang, the groom said “As the date for the marriage was already fixed, we took the help of Kanpur District Magistrate Brahm Dev Ram Tiwari and Senior Superintendent Of Police (SSP) Anand Dev Tiwari to have this marriage ceremony. For the ceremony, everything was sanitized including the garlands. Here, everyone maintained social distancing and wore, mask and face shields. Having this kind of low-cost wedding at a time when everything is pricey is actually good.”
When asked about how she felt, the bride, Aditi said “I had never thought that my wedding would be held during a lockdown. It feels good.”
Isn’t it a wonderful feeling to see love blossom despite all adversity? Wishing Garvit and Aditi a happy married life!
