Okay, so all the Bollywood fanatics in the house must be aware of the fact that Anushka Sharma’s wedding lehenga in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil weighed 17 kgs. No kidding, it really did! And, we also agree that she made a stunning bride in that Manish Malhotra outfit. But did you notice the colour contrasting jewellery that she had on? If not, then here…take a look first, before we tell you why we are suddenly bringing it up!
Pretty, right? Well, now look at her jewellery and her lehenga. Don’t miss her heavy kundan neckpiece and earrings adorned with emeralds beautifully contrast with her sparkly golden and red outfit? This happened because the jewellery choice was smartly contrasted with her bridal outfit, making it pop. It’s easy and there are several different ways of going about it. Here we present to you some of the best ones we have seen on real brides.
1. Match your jewellery with the work on your lehenga
This bride right here, wore a red outfit that was adorned with green beads all over. She made an awesome choice of choosing a heavily layered kundan necklace, matching her maang tikka and earrings with green beads of the same shade. Total stunner, if you ask us!
2. Break the colour code with sparkling white jewellery
A monotone look doesn’t always needs to be boring. Why not shift from the colour code and create an interesting look, just like this bride did! She wore a pretty red lehenga, but went with clear white pearl, kundan and diamond jewellery to accessorize her look. And we have to say that going OTT completely worked out for her!
3. Golden and silver go hand in hand…
Do you have both silver and golden embroidery in your wedding outfit? Do what this bride did! She looked regal in her rani pink outfit and opted for a dual toned (gold and silver) necklace and matha patti. This is something you can totally do if you want to rock a look that combines gold and silver.
4. Dark jewellery over a light coloured outfit…
This bride decided to use an intensely deep shade from the same colour palette as her outfit. So while it’s not a contrast colour, the burgundy-plum jewels are so far from her pink Lehenga that her look comes across coordinated and yet each aspect pops individually.
5. When in doubt, go for golden!
So this gorgeous bride here had too many colours in her outfit. It wouldn’t have made any sense to coordinate her jewellery with one of the colours in her lehenga. She did something really smart and opted for simple golden kundan jewellery. It did not dilute the essence of the outfit, and it added so much elegance to it!
6. Modern meets traditional!
This is the coolest kind of coordination you could possibly do – modern with traditional. This gorgeous bride went for a mint green floral lehenga, thus catering to the traditional part. She then teamed it with a diamond and gold choker, but not the kind of chokers that we see ordinarily… It was geometric and sat well with the neckline of her blouse. And matched well with her gold earrings and haath phool.
7. Colour blocking is the way to go…
So we’re all familiar with what colour blocking means — combining two bright colours together to create a beautiful contrasting effect. This bride went for a burgundy lehenga, but chose to wear kundan jewellery with briollette emeralds along with it. The dark green of the emeralds added contrasting richness to the maroon of her outfit — these two shades of green and red are classic colours associated with royalty. You see them on rich drapes, carpets, upholstery and ceremonial wear in Indian royal heritage.
8. Diamonds are forever!
Diamonds are a girl’s best friend, right? They especially work well with cool and fresh colours like baby pink and powder blue. This bride’s style went particularly well for a morning wedding. Her bright red chooda added a pop of colour and helped in completing the otherwise soft look.
9. Coordinate the colour of your jewellery with your dupatta!
This is one trend that can never go wrong. If you don’t want to go all out experimenting on your wedding day, just opt for this amazing trend instead. Coordinate the colour of your jewellery with that of your dupatta, like this bride did. It will add symmetry to your look and will definitely make you appear super gorgeous!
