Friends Planned A Sweet Surprise For Doctor Couple Who Postponed Wedding Due To Corona

Due to the increasing number of coronavirus cases across the world, a lot of healthcare workers including doctors and nurses have been staying away from their families in order to treat patients. And there are some who traded their special day, like the 23-year-old doctor from Kerala, Dr Shifa M Mohammed. She postponed her wedding so she could look after the corona patients. Heartwarming stories like these, from around the world, are what keeps our faith in humanity alive. 

We just came across another story of a couple from Sydney, Max Allin and Greta Geninson. They too had to postpone their wedding due to the outbreak, but for them, this was happening for the second time.

Their wedding that was scheduled for April 11 was cancelled the first time around after their wedding venue got burned down due to the Australian bushfires. Even though they managed to find a new venue and were planning to tie the knot on the very same date, they had to postpone their wedding, yet again, due to the global health emergency.

Greta said that it felt like a bit of a joke when it happened for the second time. “The other worry was because we’ve got so many friends in medicine, it meant that half of them were going to be working or in quarantine”, she added. Max and Greta, who are both ER doctors, chose to work on their special day instead and posted a picture on Instagram with a placard that read, ‘We should be getting married now but instead we went to work for you. So stay at home for us’.

Even though they had to postpone their celebrations, a sweet gesture by their colleagues made their original wedding day super special. Their friends at work fashioned a suit out of a black garbage bag for Max and a white wedding dress out of paper for Greta. They even made a veil for the bride. Isn’t that wonderful?
