You and I aren’t the only ones who’ve encountered body-shaming bullies. Count your favourite celebrities in too. Bollywood has a history of subjecting actresses to unrealistic beauty standards and the internet trolls just make things worse.
But these Bollywood divas aren’t having any of it. After being trolled for having real bodies, here’s how these stunning celebs clapped back.
Suhana Khan On Her Skin Colour
SRK’s daughter Suhana Khan has been called ugly for being dark-skinned. But The Archies star clapped back with a detailed post on Instagram.
She concluded her detailed caption of the post with “I’m sorry if social media, Indian matchmaking or even your own families have convinced you, that if you’re not 5″7 and fair you’re not beautiful. I hope it helps to know that I’m 5″3 and brown and I am extremely happy about it and you should be too.”
Sonam Kapoor On Body Measurements
The gorgeous diva underwent a weight loss transformation before she entered Bollywood but trolls still never left her alone. She was either too chubby in certain areas or called flat-chested.
In an interview, Sonam said, “The ball is in the media’s court to celebrate fit bodies rather than thin ones, and to know the difference. I know now that there’s nothing wrong with stretch marks, cellulite, or scars. They’re markers of our growth. There’s beauty in their realness.”
Anushka Sharma On Her Lip Enhancement
Trolls came for Anushka Sharma when they noticed she had a lip enhancement but the star didn’t sit quiet.
She said in an interview that it is her body and her decision so she can do whatever she wants. She also said, “I didn’t think I had to inform the world before getting my lips enhanced.”
Priyanka Chopra On Her Unconventional Features
Despite winning the title of Miss World, Priyanka was told by a producer that her nose was not proportionate and even the shape of her body wasn’t proportional!
After years Priyanka addressed this encounter on a talk show by saying “There is a false perception of what our bodies should look like. Especially when you are in the business, you put on a couple of pounds, and people are body-shaming you. It happens. Christmas happens to all of us. I am an Indian so I have Holi, Diwali, and my body fluctuates and I am fine with it”.
Hats off to these stars for clapping back and standing up to trolls!
