Out of all the unconventional practices, it’s live-in relationships that suffer maximum scrutiny in Indian society. While our country has come a long way in celebrating the liberal school of thought, it still has a lot to learn when it comes to supporting the idea of partners living together outside a marital bond. Thankfully, the good news is that a lot of popular celeb couples have come forward to normalize the taboo around live-in relationships and alleviate the judgment that surrounds them. Scroll down to see the four celeb couples who gave their relationships a test drive and opted for living together before taking the plunge! Scroll down:
Richa Chadha & Ali Fazal
After dating for almost 7 years, Ali went down on his knees and proposed to Richa for marriage in 2019. However, their shaadi got postponed due to the pandemic, and that’s when the couple decided to shift to their very own sea-facing apartment away from the din of the city. In an old interview, Richa even shared her experience of living with her beau and said, “Ali is a fun housemate, and unlike most boys, likes to help around. He chose the curtains without fuss; luckily, our aesthetics match for the most part. It’s good to finally be able to take decisions together, right from what soap to buy to which maid to hire. Ali is a better cook, especially when it comes to continental cuisine. When we went grocery shopping, his bag was bigger than mine. I enjoy organic farming and here we have a space to grow a kitchen garden of our own, which he is helping me with.”
Mohit Hiranandani & Steffi Kingham
Splitsvilla fame Mohit Hiranandani first met Steffi at a common friend’s birthday party, and the two hit it off instantly. After dating for four years, being in a live-in relationship for two years, and calling it off once due to family incompatibility, Mohit and Steffi finally tied the knot in December 2021 in a court marriage setup.
Sreejita De & Michael Blohm Pape
Sreejita De, who is a popular telly actor and rose to fame after her Bigg Boss 16 stint recently tied the knot to her long-term partner and Germany-based businessman, Michael Blohm Pap. However, did y’all know they were in a live-in relationship for a couple of years after their wedding got postponed due to Covid?
Daizy & Ankit
One of the top couple influencers in the industry, Daizy and Ankit, popularly known as The Vogue Vanity have been living together for years now. The lovebirds are known for sending their fans on a FOMO trip with their travel videos and couple reels. They even bought their first house together in Mumbai, back in 2021.
Here’s hoping our society starts looking at live-in relationships as more of a boon and understands how it’s crucial for building a strong bond!
