Celebrities, Designers & Supermodels Bid Adieu To Karl Lagerfeld, The Original Wizard Of Fashion
Karl Lagerfeld, design maestro and the most prolific designer of his time died at the age of 85 in Paris yesterday. Words fall short to define the genius that was Lagerfeld. Helming the luxury fashion houses, Chanel since 1983 and Fendi since 1965, whilst also looking over his eponymous fashion label couldn’t have been an easy task, but Karl Lagerfeld did it with what seemed like effortless ease.
“Please don’t say I work hard. Nobody is forced to do this job, and if they don’t like it they should do another one. People buy dresses to be happy, not to hear about somebody who suffered over a piece of taffeta,” he famously stated in an interview to The Independent.
Having won the International Woolmark Prize in 1954 and working with design heavyweights such as Pierre Balmain, Jean Patou, Chloé, Ballantyne and many more in his career spanning decades, Karl Lagerfeld did what he loved till the end: design. It’s not just his interpretations of fashion that will be missed. Over the years, his famous and outrageous quotes gave him the status of a man who never held back.
