No desi diva wore a Cindrellesque gown at Cannes yesterday and surprisingly, it did not feel like the end of the world. What we spotted instead were fun prints, tailored sets, and boho ensembles. The Indian fashionistas basically tried some experimentation, brought forward their personal styles and we loved the overall vibe.
Except for a look or two, most outfits turned out to be picture perfect and there is an important lesson here. Maybe, we do not need to follow what everyone has been doing on red carpets or at international fashion events. Maybe, the key is to just be yourself! So without further ado, here are four looks that stood out for us on Cannes Day 6:
Aditi Rao In Sabyasachi
For her second appearance on the Cannes red carpet, Aditi circled back to Indian couture with a black Sabyasachi gown. The panelled garment has our attention for the embroidered tulle that looks like Sabyasachi’s take on chantilly lace. The floral motifs are a sight to behold and look exquisite on the long sleeves of the gown. The Royal Bengal logo belt has been used for a cinched effect on the waist. In the accessory department, Aditi has been given a Sabyasachi choker, complementing chains, and minimal hoops.
A garnet pink hairband in velvet ties the outfit together by perfectly matching with Aditi’s pinkish nude lippie.
The netizens are currently divided on Aditi’s boho outfit but we are gonna say it—this look is the shiz! We love the entire gipsy vibe and how well the actress is carrying it.
Hina Khan In Balestra
Hina Khan went sharp yesterday in a midnight black pantsuit by Balestra. Her tuxedo jacket featured a silver hand-embellished lapel as the standout detail. The fitted jacket was paired with relaxed trousers, strappy heels, and abstract earrings by Tulla Jewellery. A structured bun and minimal makeup completed the fit and of course, Hina carries it like a pro!
Deepika Padukone In Louis Vuitton
Deepika Padukone took the print route yesterday and graced our feed in vibrant polka dot co-ords. The set comprised a cutesy forest green top with a subtle knot on the front, matching track pants, and white pumps. This is a fun outfit and we love how comfy and natural DP looks in it.
Urvashi Rautela In Ali Younes Couture
If you wanna find out how much is too much, Urvashi Rautela’s pink pantsuit will be a great example. But then again, OTT happens to be Urvashi’s natural mode of doing things. Be it the pom-pom sleeves or the sheer-embellished top, everything about this look is trademark Urvashi.
We think the desi divas aced it on Cannes Day 6. What about you?
