Camellia Oil Should Be The New Addition To Your Hair & Skincare Routine & Here’s Why

Oiling your hair is one of the most traditional ways of haircare. Long before when there was no concept of a hair spa or any special hair treatments, people oiled their hair regularly. A good ol’ champi helps keep your scalp moisturized, combats hair falls, provides necessary nutrients to your hair, increases blood flow and even makes your hair stronger.

If you too believe that a regular oil massage tops everything else, then you’ve got to try out camellia oil. If you haven’t tried this miracle in a bottle, you’re missing out!

We got in touch with Aishwarya Sawarna Nir, Founder of Global Beauty Secrets who shared some valuable inputs on why camellia oil should be your top choice when it comes to choosing a perfect oil that’s not only amazing for our hair but works wonder for the skin too.

What Is Camellia Oil?

Ancient cultures have a lot to say about beauty, don’t they? From milk baths to using honey to moisturize face; we’ve come a long way but definitely adapted all of the well-kept beauty secrets. Did you know that in ancient Japan, camellia oil was one of the most common and popular beauty ingredients?

Aishwarya says, “Camelia or Tsubaki oil is one of the most absorbent plant-based oils and a much treasured Japanese beauty secret. Camellia oil has been used by the Geishas to remove makeup from their face and as a face moisturizer. The composition of this oil is very similar to the sebum that is naturally produced by the skin. It is rich in fatty acids and phytonutrients that help moisturize the skin naturally, retain skin elasticity, and enhances the skin texture. The Tsubaki abura or camellia oil can be used directly on the face and is recommended to be used daily for effective results. In fact, it can be used in combination with Rice bran oil which is in itself rich in Vitamin E, these two oils can deliver great results on the skin.”

We told you, camellia oil has nothing but good intentions for both your hair and skin!

Using Camellia Oil On Face

Aishwarya also tells us the best way you can use camellia oil on your face as a part of your daily beauty routine:

“Take 2-3 drops of camellia oil and apply on the face in upward strokes, spread it evenly on the facial skin. You can follow this same process with Rice bran oil and apply it evenly as a layer on top of the camellia oil.”

Camellia Oil For Hair

As mentioned above, camellia oil is excellent for our hair. Here’s how Aishwarya suggests you can use it to reap all of its awesome benefits:

“One can also use camellia oil as a leave-in scalp and hair moisturizer after cleansing your hair with shampoo. The nutrients in the oil like oleic acid, proteins and glycerides promote scalp and hair health, prevent split ends and make hair more lustrous. It can also be used as a pre-shampoo treatment for the hair. Apply the oil directly to the scalp and let it sit for 30-60 minutes. Wrap the head with a hot towel and let the oil be absorbed into the scalp. You can now cleanse the scalp with a shampoo that is well suited to your hair type and towel dry your hair. You can include camelia oil in your daily hair and skincare routine to see visible results in a matter of a few days.”

We bet you’re already adding camellia oil-infused beauty products to your cart. Use this miracle oil and see the difference!
