Body Shamed For Her Outfit & Dance, This Bride Has A Savage Reply For The Haters

I’ve seen some of my friends break down days before getting married. The thought of starting something new and the fear of things not going as planned adds to the anxiety. At such a time, a bride-to-be deserves nothing but support and empathy. But some people clearly do not get this.

Content creator, Shompa, recently got married and took to her Instagram to share some heartwarming videos from the celebration. There was one from her mehendi where she can be seen dancing for her husband wearing a stunning 10 kg lehenga! I loved her performance and so did a lot of her followers. But surprisingly, some others had the audacity to fat-shame her and pull her down. One even asked her if she was pregnant at the time of getting married. Another had rather unsolicited advice on how she could’ve gone a size up with her lehenga.

But like a total badass, Shompa didn’t let this rattle her. She posted another video in which she not only called out these so-called faceless trolls but also tried to uplift other women who’ve been through a similar situation. In the clip, she also talked about how she’s not embarrassed, but in fact happy to have performed for her husband.

My first question to these people–how on earth did you muster the courage to post such nasty comments on such a beautiful video? While y’all will argue that it’s a social space and everyone is entitled to have an opinion, this in no way feels like an opinion. It’s more like a reflection of their own insecurities and borderline bullying.

When will people begin to accept the fact that our bodies come in different sizes? When will they understand that body shaming is NOT OKAY? I love how Shompa turned this situation around and sent out an empowering message instead. More power to her!
