Forgetting Her Is Impossible: Boney Kapoor Breaks Down While Talking About His Late Wife Sridevi

It has been more than a year since Bollywood legend Sridevi passed away. Her family, along with the rest of the country, is still recovering from the shock of her untimely death. The demise of Sridevi left everyone devastated, especially her husband Boney Kapoor. He recently made an appearance on film trade analyst Komal Nahta’s talk show Aur Ek Kahani and opened up about how he is still trying to come to terms with the loss.

Sridevi was attending a wedding in Dubai with her family when the veteran actress passed away. After her demise, the actress was honoured with a posthumous National Film Award for Best Actress in appreciation of her performance in her last film, Mom.

On the talk show, Komal asked Boney Kapoor if there was ever a moment when he didn’t miss Sridevi. Boney broke down a little as he got emotional at the mention of his deceased wife. While trying to hide his tears, he said, “Namumkin hai (it’s impossible).” He further said that his wife stood by him through thick and thin and with her by his side, he could take on the world.

However, after Sridevi’s death, the only consolation that the producer received was seeing all his children uniting. In the wake of this tragedy, all his children came together to help him overcome the loss. A few weeks ago, in an interview with a leading daily, Boney Kapoor admitted, “The children coming together gave me a lot of strength to cope up with the situation we were facing. I couldn’t have asked for more. For a parent, children come first and seeing all my 4 children together was kind of a balming effect after the tragedy.”

Boney Kapoor still breaks down at the mention of Sridevi’s untimely death last year in February. When he spoke at an event to mark Sridevi’s 55th birth anniversary, he got emotional during an interview: “Today this vacuum, this void cannot be replaced but the good wishes and the goodwill that she has left behind is something that we can live with… She is with me, in my memories…with my children. I feel the loss of her every second of my life, not just me even my children do. This is something that we have to live with. Unfortunately, she was snatched away from us sooner than anybody expected.”

On Sridevi’s first death anniversary in February this year, Boney Kapoor held a puja for his late wife at her maternal house in Chennai.
