Meet The Short-Suit, The Pant-Suit’s Much Cooler Cousin

Our love for co-ord evolved into an obsession over super slick pant-suits last winter. How could we not be obsessed? Every fashion girl ever rocked a pant-suit up till summer. From red carpets at award shows to our daily Instagram feed, the trend is everywhere. So much so, that supermodel Emily Ratajkowski chose a 130$ (Rs. 8,730) pant-suit from Zara to wear down the aisle!

While we love ‘em and can’t wait for winter to come back so we can finally start wearing them, there’s a slight hitch. A very stylish, more summer worthy hitch called *the short-suit*. Didn’t know short-suits existed? They very much do. The new trend caught on even quicker than pant-suits… See for yourself.

The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, keeps it casual but magically chic in this striped short-suit, which she’s paired with a classic white top and nude pink pumps. If Royalty loves them, how can you not.

Kim’s stamp of approval has us convinced. The edgy dresser swaps the regular short-suit for a long-line tuxedo jacket and cycling shorts. Genius!

1. Aditi Rao Hydari

The Bollywood celeb pulled out the big guns with this stunner of an outfit. She’s also the first one we spotted in a short-suit! A great feat, and an even greater look. Aditi wore a baby pink double-breasted blazer, left unbuttoned, and matching shorts from Zara, which she wore with matching sandals.

2. Swara Bhaskar

Look familiar? Yes, Veere Di Wedding star, Swara Bhaskar donned the exact same short-suit as Aditi Rao Hydari’s from Zara for film promotions. She swapped the t-shirt for a crisp button-down shirt and the comfy sandals for higher clear mules. Also, she buttoned the jacket up to lend the look a more formal, sophisticated touch in comparison to Aditi’s. Doesn’t she look lovely?

3. Malaika Arora Khan

If only we could look this good everytime we stepped out for dinner. Bollywood mummy, Malaika Arora Khan, wore a fun polka dotted short-suit from Topshop, which she paired with ankle strap heels and a red bag. Monochrome never looked better! We’re loving the style streak Miss Arora Khan is on.  

4. Sonam Kapoor

The newly-wed Sonam Kapoor Ahuja has always been ahead of the lot with her fashion choices. Taking a cue from Kimmy K, Sonam rocked an all black short-suit with a twist. The jacket is actually a cape (but you can’t tell) and what you think is a top with cycling shorts… is a playsuit! Genius.
