Hello there, cool kids on the block. Gossip Girl may as well be getting a reboot overseas (as you may have heard) but that got us thinking about the other possibilities. For instance, what if the show with the cult following were to be made in India? Well, there aren’t any such plans in the making but we can still pitch, right! Which brings us to the folks close home we would like to see get in on the drama that ensues on the Upper East Side (hello, Bollywood). You know what goes on with the Manhattan elite!
Bollywood Actors As Gossip Girl Cast Members
Now that we have cleared the air on all things fictitious, here’s looking, in no particular order, at Bollywood actors if they were to be cast in different roles in an Indian reboot of Gossip Girl.
Alia Bhatt As Blair Waldorf
The sassy attitude, the dramatic side and of course, that wardrobe which needs no introduction—say hello to Blair Waldorf. Now if the drama-loving, queen-of-all-social-circles were to be recast in India, we think Alia Bhatt would be one person to fit into the role seamlessly, especially given that she already has all her acting chops and sartorial style sorted!
Deepika Padukone As Serena van der Woodsen
Okay hear us out, who else could we even think of when it comes to playing the uber-cool (and also chic) Serena van der Woodsen? With her fashion trajectory moving towards all things glam, Deepika Padukone has definitely been making some coveted choices of late and some of that on-screen would be sure-shot fire, don’t you think.
Siddhant Chaturvedi As Chuck Bass
It isn’t news that Bollywood latest’s talent has been the talk of the town with his performance in Gully Boy, his portrayal of a rapper one of the best there was. Now were we to draw up names for who would do justice to the always-dapper, mostly-cocky Chuck Bass in Gossip Girl (scheming ways included), Siddhant Chaturvedi would be winning that raffle and there are no two ways about it.
Ranbir Kapoor As Nate Archibald
On a contrasting note, Nate Archibald would best be played by someone mellow, smart and well, you get the drift! Looking at Bollywood’s finest, we would be vouching for Ranbir Kapoor to play the charming Upper East Side elite. Can you already see him working all those formal looks like a boss?
Vikrant Massey As Dan Humphrey
Absolutely refreshing to watch on screen and acting so fine that you will be unable to look away. Wondering whether we are referring to Penn Badgley (the OG Dan Humphrey) or Vikrant Massey (our proposed Bollywood star)? Consider it for both; given the latter’s track record of playing each role phenomenally, we will be placing our bets on him to bring the brooding and reserved Dan to life. Those dimples are included (obviously).
Anushka Sharma As Vanessa Abrams
Remember the best friend with a creative side? There is no forgetting the boho, no-fuss appeal that Vanessa Abrams’s style was about, her entire character a sharp contrast to Manhattan’s elite. And who better than the versatile Anushka Sharma to work as the prominent girl-next-door we loved in Gossip Girl.
Jacqueline Fernandez As Jenny Humphrey
Jenny, Jenny. Right from having trouble fitting in to finally fitting in, Jenny Humphrey’s character arc had a lot going on and should you remember, her transition to a queen bee was quite interesting on the show. If we are talking sweet-turned-fiery, we are hyping Jacqueline Fernandez for sure.
Phew, now that’s a show we wouldn’t mind watching.
