Weddings are special, aren’t they? All of us have dreamt of our wedding day at least once in our lives, no matter how different we are. But I’m sure, a lockdown wedding with social distancing restrictions in place didn’t likely feature in any of our dreams. Thanks to the coronavirus pandemic, the future is still a little uncertain–which is why couples are choosing to have an intimate ceremony rather than waiting for the global crisis to end. One such couple is Sim and Harneet from Canada, who recently organised their wedding in their backyard, and it was B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L! You have to see the pictures to believe it!

While Harneet always wanted to have an intimate wedding at her parents’ house, given their large families, having one was out of the question. The duo was all set to have a summer wedding when the world was hit by the pandemic and consequently, they had to change their plans.
“As we worked on planning our ceremony in a gurudwara, COVID was spreading rapidly. We knew we wanted to move forward with our lives, regardless of these challenges. However, it was important for us to plan a wedding that was safe, and was also a great experience for us and our families. While everyone was supportive of our wishes for a wedding this summer, it took some time to get people to feel comfortable breaking away from some traditions such as large indoor weddings and a week of festivities. We ultimately planned the intimate, boho-garden wedding in my parents’ backyard that I’d always dreamed of,” the new bride said in an interview with the photographer, Amrit Photography, people behind their dreamy wedding pictures.
Isn’t Harneet looking oh-so stunning in this close-up picture? We’re totally loving how her lip shade is complimenting her outfit AND the decor. Just saying!
Currently, British Columbia in Canada has a 50-person limit on gatherings, but the couple reduced it further to 34 to ensure everyone’s safety. Their friends and the extended family members were also a part of the ceremony, but virtually.

The bride, who is an event planner herself, had absolute clarity on how she wanted her wedding to look like. To follow social distancing, the couple created pods, in which only family members living in the same household were seated together.

There were arrangements for outdoor handwashing, sanitizing stations were also set up near the ceremony space. Instead of a self-serve buffet, they had food stations and staff to avoid close contact among the guests.

Amazing, right!?
Coming to their stunning outfits, the bride and groom complimented each other and looked oh-so-in love. While Harneet wore a floral blue and pink lehenga, her groom Sim opted for an off-white sherwani and a matching turban.

The couple, who grew up in the same block and went to the same high school, met online and had an instant connection with each other. They are happily married now and are waiting for their honeymoon in Bali. The bride said, “We enjoyed every bit of our intimate wedding, and couldn’t have dreamed of anything more magical! Now we’re looking forward to our future honeymoon to Bali post-COVID”.
Congratulations Sim and Harneet. We wish you a lifetime of happiness!
