Blake Lively’s ‘Antique Grandma’ Wallpaper-Inspired Manicure Is Actually Pretty Á La Mode

Blake Lively’s brand-new manicure might have all the hallmarks of your nani’s years-old floral-art curtain/wallpaper, but it looks stunning on the actress’ lacquers. The soon-to-be-mother debuted the antique-looking aesthetic alongside Ryan Reynolds at the 36th Annual American Cinematheque Awards a couple of days ago and blessed us with a close-up of the manicure too. It’s safe to say that she pulled it off, and how.

While this choice of nail art doesn’t emulate the minimalism of a white-tipped French manicure, or even the one-toned nature of jelly nails, it’s pretty unique. If you’re old-school at heart or are simply looking to dip your toes in unchartered waters, you might want to bookmark this one to show to your manicurist. Take a look!

Blake Lively’s ‘Granny Nails’ Are Surprisingly Chic

Lively posted a photo of the manicure on Instagram her oval-tipped lacquers had splashes of mustard, green, pink, and maroon embossed on them. Floral nail art enriched the aesthetic I believe this was the element that led Blake to dub the manicure the ‘Antique Grandma Wallpaper’ and the result was a vintage-looking mani that looked stunning on the soon-to-be-mom. Like one of the wallpapers from your grandparent’s home that your nani had handpicked. Yeah. Here’s a close-up of the old-school nails:

The look was created for the 36th Annual American Cinematheque Awards by nail-stylist Elle Gerstein that Lively graced with beau Ryan Reynolds earlier this week and it was in sync with her Ralph Lauren ensemble and soft-glam aesthetic. Notice how Blake’s hair is brunette around the roots and crown. The colour evolves into a delicious beach blonde toward the length. The actress has one part of the hair pinned back softly — and that’s on pulling off an understated ‘do. This is a woman who can pull off a Met Gala-like entry and pare back on occasion. She opted for flushes of pink on the cheeks and lids and drenched the lashes in mascara. That’s it.

But where did she source her inspiration for the manicure from? Was it the dress? While Gerstein’s caption reveals nothing about the muse, Blake might have dropped a hint. According to Lively’s story, it was House Of Hackney that played muse to the manicure. House Of Hackney is a Brit-based interiors, lifestyle, and fashion brand, and they’re pretty popular for their wallpapers. No wonder most of us thought ‘wallpaper’ the first time we saw the nails.

What do we think about this vintage nail-art design?
