What! We’re Wearing Black Blush Now?

While my aesthetic attests to the miracle of blush, it doesn’t quite approve of anything that doesn’t strike the cheeks with flushes of rose or pink — and that’s why it endured a culture (read: beauty) shock of sorts upon discovering influencers stamping their face with dabs of jet-black (in the name of blush). Are we quitting our rose-tinted blushes for this now? Let’s find out.

Are We Bidding Farewell To Our Rose-Tinted Blushers? You Decide

MARJAN popularised this trend by layering a little bit of a cream-based black-tinted blusher from Wet & Wild onto her cheeks—which transitioned into a shade of mauve soon after. Magic? Well, not really because this was possible only because of the product’s ability to colour-change within seconds.

Another influencer put the trend to the test — but instead of using a cream-based blusher, she opted for a shimmery powder-based one called Zombie Blush by Wet & Wild again. The end result was similar: the product adjusted to her skin and morphed into a shade of pink(ish) within a couple of seconds. She noted that the cream-based product didn’t flatter her skin as much as it ‘gave her a bunch of texture’. So, you might want to try out a couple of products before deciphering a conclusion.

The concept of colour-morphing blushers has been around for a while. The colourant in the product adjusts to the pH of your skin and delivers a one-of-a-kind shade to your cheeks. Since everyone’s skin tone is different, the end result will vary from person to person — which means that these products will deliver a shade unique to you. Ready for your surprise shade yet?

These products were available on websites like Amazon, but they’re currently unavailable here. I’d suggest surfing these websites every few days if you want to bag them.
