This Bigg Boss Star’s Confession About Getting Body Shamed Is Heartbreaking

Social media has a place for everyone—a unique situation that is a blessing and a curse, both at once. No one understands this better than social media influencers. The moment you make your life public, people rush to form opinions about you. That’s exactly what happened with Bigg Boss star Aashika Bhatia. The telly star who transformed into an influencer was ripped apart by body shamers on multiple occasions.

In the past Aashika often tried to hit back at the trolls and changed her workout to fit into the cookie-cutter mould of beauty. However, as they say, just like love hate also finds a way.

The anonymity offered by social media means that it can unfortunately also serve as a toxic breeding ground that comes out in the form of—body shaming. Recently, Aashika opened up on the subject and said, “It doesn’t affect me anymore. That time it was a new thing for me so it did affect me a lot in the past. Ab farak nahi padta (It doesn’t bother me).”

It is heartbreaking to see how Aashika has simply developed a thicker skin to cope with the social media toxicity. It seems like we are years away from being a kinder society.

Growing up, I was a skinny girl but even then my biggest fear was gaining weight. Then life happened and everything changed including my weight. It took years of practising self-love to not hate myself and instead celebrate myself. In my life, body shamers were just a few names on my contact list. But when the whole world feels like they have a right to have an opinion on YOUR body, I can’t imagine how disheartening it must have been. It takes courage to face it all every day and still emerge victorious!

I am glad to see how Aashika isn’t letting these faceless internet trolls have the last laugh. You go, girl!
