Zindagi Gulzar Hai is the first name that comes to mind whenever a mention of Pakistani TV shows is made and rightly so. After all, it is an iconic series that gave us such a beautiful insight into what Pakistani TV is capable of. Humsafar again is another one of these brilliant shows. However, there is certainly more to Pakistani TV than these handful of shows that happen to be popular in India. In fact, the newer Pakistani shows are fresher with each one of them following a truly unique and intriguing storyline. Today, we are introducing you to seven such shows. Khuda Aur Mohabbat
This spiritual-romantic drama follows the story of two star-crossed lovers. Hammad (Imran Abbas) comes from a rich family and is living his best life when his path crosses with Imaan (Sadia Khan), a maulvi’s daughter. It is love at first sight for Hammad who eventually forsakes his wealth and family to be accepted by Imaan’s family. He finds spirituality while pursuing love. Sadly, even that is not enough for Imaan’s father who marries her off to someone else. However, grief-stricken, she soon falls ill. The heartbroken story continues in season 2. The third season of the show has started with a fresh story and new leads. It features Feroze Khan (as Farhad) and Iqra Aziz (as Mahi) in the lead roles. In this story, Mahi comes from an affluent family. She is a bubbly girl who just wants to live her life but is constantly restrained by the class rules and mannerisms that her family adheres to. Farhad belongs to a small town and instantly falls in love with the jovial girl. He ends up forsaking everything for her but she does not really reciprocate the sentiments. This leads him to find fulfillment in God.

Ehd-e-Wafa
A Pakistani military drama, Ehd-e-Wafa is the story of true friendship. It follows the story of four best friends who are about to come face to face with the challenges of life. It stars Ahad Raza Mir (Saad), Osman Khalid Butt (Shahzin), Ahmed Ali Akbar (Shehryar), and Wahaj Ali (Shariq) in lead roles. The story opens with the four of them supporting each other through thick and thin. However, an unfortunate fight before the end of their college leads to a rift in the group. The four pursue different paths and Saad chooses to join the army. Will their friendship survive after all the hardships and challenges that life throws at them?

Dunk
This is not a show for the weak-hearted and there is so much here that will leave you heartbroken. The story follows the chaos that ensues after Professor Humayun (Noman Ijaz) is accused of sexual harassment by his student, Amal (Sana Javed). The allegations are false, however, Amal’s fiance, Haider (Bilal Abbas Khan) does not know that yet. What follows is a series of heartbreaking events as one of them eventually dies.

Ghissi Pitti Mohabbat
In a society where girls are constantly told that they’d be ultimately fulfilled and free once they get married, how does one forge her path when none of it works out? Is marriage really the only way ahead? Aren’t we enough on our own? The story of Ghisi Piti Mohabbat revolves around Samiya (Ramsha Khan) and Rizwan (Wahaj Ali). They fall for each other and end up getting married without involving their families. However, Rizwan’s mom and sister don’t approve of the girl and even he eventually leaves her for someone else. Undeterred, the confident and hopeful Samiya finds love again but all in vain. In the show, she marries four times and none of it works out. However, it is not a tragedy. Through a comic approach, the show tells us how none of it defines Samiya. But will she find true happiness? And how?

Mere Pass Tum Ho
In a world consumed by greed, sometimes love fails to be enough. The story of Mere Pass Tum Ho revolves around the same theme. Mehwish (Ayeza Khan) is a beautiful girl who comes from a middle-class family and is married to Danish (Humayun Saeed) who loves her immensely. However, she has big expectations from life and the kind of dreams that Danish cannot fulfill. This is when Shehwaar (Adnan Siddiqui) comes into the picture. He is a rich and charming man and knows how to manipulate people for his selfish purposes. Things take a turn for the worse when Mehwish starts working for him and eventually leaves her son and husband for the pursuit of money. Can this possibly end well for her?

Yakeen Ka Safar
For starters, this show is set in one of the most beautiful places in Pakistan, the Neelam Valley. This is an exceptional drama that has challenged a lot of social norms. Yakeen Ka Safar is a story of courage, determination, and perseverance. Zubia’s (Sajal Aly) abusive father kills her mother. Dejected, she leaves the house to become a doctor. Meanwhile, in a parallel story Asfyandar (Ahad Raza Mir) is shattered by his brother’s death and finds solace in the idea of starting a hospital. Their paths cross when Zubia joins it as a practicing doctor. The two develop a beautiful bond after challenging a lot of norms on the way.

Ishq Jalebi
This is a Ramadan special drama marked by the fun and frolic which is characteristic of such shows. The story revolves around Mohammad Boota (Qavi Khan) who owns a sweets business. His son-in-law Ashiq Hussain (Noor-ul-Hassan) and grand-son Basim (Wahaj Ali) run the operations on his behalf. Mohammad Boota dreams of involving his two sons Sadaqat (Kashif Mehmood) and Rafaqat (Mehmood Aslam) in the family business who have left the country for selfish reasons. Basim plans to do the same. However, things change for the better when a split in the business ownership leads Sadaqat and Rafaqat back to Pakistan. What follows is a series of confrontations and realisations.
