We are back with another edition of #FlashbackFriday, though this time, you don’t have to go too far down the memory lane! Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, the Karan Johar-directed film starring Anushka Sharma and Ranbir Kapoor in the lead failed to work with the audiences at the box office, but the fashion choices in the film managed to make a mark. With cameos by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Lisa Haydon and more, the Bollywood movie left no stone unturned in the costume department, the styling for the actresses helmed by Manish Malhotra.
Be it the kurta+jeans trend set by Anushka Sharma or Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s chic wardrobe that saw her in a different avatar, there was a lot to take cues from.
The Best Of Fashion In Ae Dil Hai Mushkil
Without further ado, here’s taking a look at some of the best fashion outfits from the film.
Kurtas, Jeans & Layering
Most of Anushka Sharma’s wardrobe was made up of solid-hued but intricate kurtas, all worn with either trousers or jeans, and layered with a jacket of choice. On the lengthier side, they made for a refreshing alternative to the short kurta, which often ends up being paired with jeans instead. As for the layers, leather jackets, shrugs and all that jazz made for smart outfit options. Scroll down to see the Bollywood actress in some of the best looks from the movie.
Going-Out Chic
Lisa Haydon may have only had a cameo in the film, but her sartorial choices stood out nonetheless. There was the sleek white dress with a fur (faux, we are hoping) outerwear in her introductory scene, followed by a chic black LBD, boots and accessories all in place. While the actress’s fashion wardrobe in the film served to highlight her chic side, Anushka Sharma too, was seen wearing a more casual, though ideal for stepping out attire. See all of them below.
Indian & Wedding Wear
You will probably remember this on your own but just to jog your memory, the Indian wear and wedding-related attire were no less either. First up, the vibrant saree with a sleeveless printed blouse in a recreation of the classic Chandni. Anushka Sharma’s trousseau too included some smart picks—think a shirt teamed with an elaborate skirt and string of pearls and the distinctive Manish Malhotra wedding outfit that came with ornate detailing and matching jewellery. The latter even went on to be recreated by a number of brides, post the film’s release. Take a look at the traditional wardrobe below.
Winter Wardrobe
Mentioning the styling in the movie without talking about Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s wardrobe wouldn’t work, considering how on-point her look in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil was. From making unconventional winterwear, read dress+overcoat, work to making a statement in patterned and solid outerwear alike, the actress’s winterwear wardrobe along with her beauty looks sure had notes worth taking. Scroll to find some of them below, should taking cues be on your mind.
