The Barbie movie is presently sweeping both the entertainment and fashion worlds! On July 10, a premiere of the movie was held in Los Angeles. While the film is all about portraying how Barbie is so much more than her blonde hair and pretty pink outfits, the guests made sure to put forth their best fashion game. The premiere featured a pink carpet (obviously) that was graced by the most stylish celebrities. Let’s take a peek at the best-dressed celebs spotted at the Barbie premiere.
Margot Robbie in Schiaparelli
She’s everything, he’s just Ken. We must, of course, begin with the woman of the hour – Margot Robbie! The real life Barbie has been making us drool with her promotional looks hence, we expected nothing less from her premiere look. While several of her recent looks have been inspired by Barbie dolls, she went above and beyond for the screening in a custom Schiaparelli Haute Couture gown! The ensemble was a recreation of Mattel’s 1960 “Solo in the Spotlight” Barbie, complete with opera gloves, Lorraine Schwartz jewellery, and Manolo Blahnik peep-toe heels. Iconic!
Ryan Gosling in Gucci
As a child who loved Barbie, if there was any actor I fantasised about playing Ken, it would undoubtedly be Ryan Gosling! Director, Greta Gerwig most certainly got the cast right. Ryan looked nothing less than a Ken doll as he graced the pink carpet in a baby pink Gucci suit and white sneakers. While the outfit was a total hit, the highlight was the “E” necklace he wore in honour of his long-term lover, Eva Mendes. Totes Adorbs!
America Ferrera in St. John
What happens when you mix Barbie with old Hollywood? Well, America Ferrera just showed us how its done! The actress gave old Hollywood a modern twist in a custom St. John outfit that combined the opulence of a gown with the ease of a two-piece matching set. She styled her pale pink look with a matching necklace and a cutesy pink bag!
Ava Max in Mônot
This Barbie is sassy, this Barbie loves blue! Even though Ava Max’s outfit lacked the signature Barbie doll shade, it definitely passed the vibe check. Ava’s Mônot co-ord set was the perfect blend of modern and retro featuring a powder blue blouse and a matching bodycon skirt, both decked in glitter. The crystal sunnies and opera gloves were just what the ensemble was missing.
Dua Lipa in Bottega Veneta
Dua Lipa literally had us “levitating” with her look. She wore a see-through custom Bottega Veneta gown as she fearlessly flaunted her underwear! The gown was made by carefully knitting together hundreds of rhinestones. The singer added extra sparkle to the nearly naked look with Tiffany & Co. jewellery. TBH, only Dua Lipa can bring sexy to a Barbie red carpet.
Ariana Greenblatt in Yogie Pratama
Dua Lipa wasn’t the only one who took a risque with sheer dressing on the pink carpet. 15-year-old actress, Ariana Greenblatt looked phenomenal in a Yogie Pratama gown that came with a sheer black train. The outfit featured a peplum made entirely of larger-than-life rosettes and a soft pink satin bodice that added a touch of sheer elegance.
Issa Rae in Marc Bouwer
Issa Rae knew what she was doing and damn, did she do it well. She looked stunning in a Barbie pink velvet gown by Marc Bouwer that came with a larger than life bow. Her dangling earrings, diamond tennis bracelet, and hot pink clutch made for the perfect accessories.
Shay Mitchell in Shushutong
If they ever made a movie with a brown Barbie, Shay Mitchell would slay the role! The Pretty Little Liars actress looked gorgeous as she wore a darling Shushutong mini dress with strappy sandals and a lustrous mini bag. The sleek headband, diamond studs, and tennis bracelet made Shay look like a real life doll on the pink carpet.
