Ring The Bell: Our Favourite Celebs Can’t Get Enough Of This 70’s Jeans Style!

Both Hollywood and Bollywood have documented the return of bell-bottoms well thus far. From Elvis Presley to It girls like Sofia Vergara, Gigi and Bella Hadid, from Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini to Athiya Shetty tipping their toes into the trend, flared denim has had long fashion history notes in its name since the 70’s. The style is slowly making a comeback in the film industry in an absolutely improvised format.

When you think of bell-bottom pants or jeans, we know you’re typically thinking Amitabh Bachchan in Don or Amar Akbar Anthony (he made it quite an impactful style in the 80s,) or perhaps Akshay Kumar in Action Replayy. But no, it doesn’t always have to look that retro. The new crop of bell-bottom jeans is paired so well that you won’t use words like retro or vintage trend for them. With side slits and ripped knees, they are much more streamlined now, or in some cases, even grunge. Such is the case for Malaika Arora Khan’s new airport look. The actress stepped out of the airport in bell-bottoms with side slit, which she wore with a printed white Gucci t-shirt and perfectly-showcased comfy white shoes.

Recently, Athiya Shetty paired her bell-bottom jeans with a white Balmain t-shirt and comfy shoes in the same colour as well. She rounded off the ensemble with a pinstripe coat in her airport look. Just like Malaika, Kareena Kapoor Khan was also spotted twice wearing side-slitted bell-bottom jeans from Bhane (that’s Sonam Kapoor’s beau Anand Ahuja’s brand). For the first look, Kareena chose to don her jeans with striped top while running errands. While for the second look she paired it with a white top and comfy white sneakers, comfort but sharp. She finished her look with a black blazer.

Bollywood star’s take on the trend is more cool and chic. And in case you were wondering, all three of them accessorised their looks with sunglasses. So, you can think of it as less disco era and more of a street style star.
