Egg-ceptionally Awesome: The Many Beauty Benefits Of Eggs For Your Hair & Skin

Eggs are so awesome! From scrambled eggs to cheesy omelette to ramen noodles; eggs make food so much fun.

In the skincare world too, eggs are just as cool. Whether it’s for tackling hair woes or getting rid of common skin problems, eggs can singlehandedly give you your best hair and skin days. Seems like the Korean skincare too knows the miraculous benefits of eggs, and that’s why so many of their products have it listed as the key ingredient!

And if you are someone who loves to just chill on the weekends with a TV remote in one hand and a hot cuppa coffee in another, while your hair and face mask does its magic, here’s how you can use one ingredient that is loved by both our hair and skin. Before you go all *no, it stinks* read why eggs are awesome and who knows, you might just get up and get yourself a dozen for the weekend.

Eggs For Hair

Did you know that eggs contain about 33% biotin? You must be wondering, why is it important? Well, our hair is made up of a protein called keratin which requires biotin for its infrastructure.

Applying an egg will not only make our hair super strong with every use but it will also make your scalp clean, reduce hair fall and thinning of hair, control hair fizz, boosts hair growth, makes hair super shiny, and glossy too!

Eggs Masks For Every Kind Of Hair Woes

Here’s how you can use eggs to tackle different kinds of hair woes.

For oily and greasy hair: In a bowl, crack open an egg and add 2 tbsps. of dahi in it. Mix it well and apply the mixture to get rid of a greasy scalp in no time. Add lemon juice if you have a snowflake situation on your scalp! Apply this for about 45 minutes, twice a week and we bet your scalp will thank you!

To reduce hair-fall: In a bowl, crack open an egg and add 2-3 tablets of vitamin E. Add a few drops of essential oils such as rosemary oil and apply the mixture on your scalp for 45 minutes and wash off. Use this thrice a week and we bet your hair will stop falling soon.

To make hair shiny and soft: In a bowl, add the albumin (egg white), a few drops of honey and olive oil. Apply this on your scalp but mostly on your hair ends and massage it. Keep it for about 30 minutes and wash it off. If you have split-ends, dead hair or even burnt hair, trust me, this will make that horrid situation somewhat better (it won’t rectify it as hair damage cannot be undone).

I know you must be probably thinking about how many shampoo bottles it would take for you to get rid of that awful smell?! Here’s what you can do: instead of using a full egg, take two eggs whites minus the yolk (or maybe a teeny-tiny part of it?) and let your hair woes leave you for good.

Beauty Benefits Of Eggs For Skin

Just like how you use eggs to get super amazing hair, you can apply your beloved andas on your face too to ensure you have great skin. Eggs have lutein in them which provides both hydration and elasticity to our skin that keeps the skin firm and supple.

Just applying the egg white on your skin can help tighten your pores, increase the production of elastin and collagen in our skin.

Egg Face Mask To Try Out Today

We bet you’re ready to know the many ways our skin can benefit from eggs. And thankfully, you do not need the egg yolks!

For skin-tightening: In a bowl, add the albumin of two eggs and mix it for a minute or so. Take a small amount and apply a thin layer on your face. Next, apply one layer of tissue paper on your face, followed by a thin application of the egg white and then the tissue paper. When you have applied three layers of both (a total of six layers), lie down and let the mask work its magic for 20-30 minutes. Peel it off and wash your face with cold water. Do this once a week.

To reduce acne scars: In a bowl, add the egg white from one egg, 1 tbsp. turmeric powder and 1 tbsp. lemon juice and mix it well. Apply the egg face mask all over your face and let it dry for about 25-30 minutes before washing it off with a mild cleanser.

To hydrate parched skin: In a bowl, add the egg white and 1tbsp. honey and mix it well. Apply your DIY egg face mask all over your face for about 20 minutes and wash it off. This is a really mild face mask so you can use it every 2 days too.

Next time someone asks you some beauty advice, you’ll know egg-jactly what to tell them!
