Arjun Kapoor Speaks Up About Actors Being Disrespected Including Sis Janhvi Kapoor

Recently, Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra promoted of their upcoming movie Namaste England at an event and spoke about the perils of constantly being in the public eye. Arjun Kapoor has always openly smashed trolls on social media, especially, when they target his younger half-sister, Janhvi Kapoor.

Once again, the actor defended Janhvi and stated that media often pays heed to these trolls, which further encourages them. “People don’t write nasty things for their sisters. If I write something about you on your building notice board, I know what you will feel. But people do think twice before writing nasty comments from the anonymous accounts,” said Arjun.

“Constructive criticism is good, but getting personal is hurtful. You can say the same thing in a very dignified way. But we have learned our lessons the hard way – we have now become thick-skinned. Trollers write nasty stuff and media amplifies it. You shouldn’t do it,” the actor added.

Parineeti Chopra also shared his opinion. The actress shared an incident that helped her realise the reality and power of social media. While a photographer was clicking her picture, she jokingly asked him to take a bad picture. To this amusing request of Parineeti, the photographer replied, “I have been clicking photos for the last 25 years now. Earlier, we used to go back home and sit and look for the best picture but now we send a photo in the next 10 minutes that will help create a controversy.” The actress later added, “At times when we say no, people think that actors are being difficult but in reality, they are trying to protect themselves.”

She also commented on the change that has come in the industry in the past few years. “In my six-year career, I have seen a major change. Where there should be appreciation for someone’s action, there is a lot of trolling. Cameras are always rolling. Disrespect for actors is increasing by the day, and it hurts,” she added.

Recently, the actress also tweeted in support of Tanushree Dutta when she spoke about being sexually harassed by co-actor Nana Patekar.

It is a step in the positive direction to see prominent actors in Bollywood speak about issues like sexual harassment and discomfort at the workplace.

Parineeti Chopra and Arjun Kapoor’s movie Namaste England is the second instalment of the hit movie, Namaste London and is set to release on 19th October 2018.
