After much wait and anticipation, Arjun Kapoor and Rakul Preet Singh starter Sardar Ka Grandson is finally streaming on Netflix. This is Arjun’s 16th film since his 2012 debut. It is a remarkable number and clearly shows that the actor has been emersed in work and juggling multiple projects. Now, as eventful as the past nine years might have been for the actor, it has also been a trying phase. For the unversed, Arjun and Anshula lost their mother to cancer in 2012, the same year when Arjun’s first film Ishaqzaade got released.
As lucky as Arjun feels to have done these incredible projects, he also admits that he used work as a coping mechanism. He talked about the same in a recent interview with radio host Siddharth Kannan. “I have run away a lot. When I lost my mom, I didn’t want to be at home because I knew I would, main bokhla jaata (go down). I signed six movies and I kept working,” he shared in the candid chat.
However, Arjun also accepted that all this has been possible for him because Anshula kept standing by him like a rock. Talking about how she made his dreams her own, Arjun shared, “Me and my sister, Anshula have sacrificed a lot subconsciously. She did a course in America, she graduated and she moved to India so that I don’t get lonely. She looked at my life as her life. She runs the house so that I can work.”
He further added, “It’s not easy to live without having parents around, at least one child has to be slightly responsible so that the other one can enjoy, be carefree, irresponsible and go take on the world. Because acting karna matlab duniya ko take on karna (Because to act means to take on the world). You have to live in different places at different times, so I think she sacrificed a lot.”
That said, this is not the first time that Arjun has talked about how Anshula has backed his career and supported him emotionally post their mother’s demise. This says a lot about Anshula’s strength and her maturity given that she was hardly 21 when their mother passed away. Here’s more power and strength to this beautiful girl!
