The Hindi music industry has always received a lot of flak for its obsession with recreating iconic songs. While they set out to give us a fresh version of the song, they somehow lose the essence of the original. Consequently, these renditions end up disappointing fans. Case in point—the new version of the Pakistani hit Pasoori.
Satyaprem Ki Katha makers recently released the desi recreation of the iconic Pasoori song. The original song was sung by Ali Sethi and Shae Gill and became an instant hit in 2022. The new version is sung by Arijit Singh and Tulsi Kumar and as expected, fans of the original song are not happy. They are accusing the makers of ruining a classic and not doing justice to it. And guess what? Even Arijit Singh is not happy with the new song!
A Twitter account that reportedly belongs to Arijit just tweeted about how Ali Sethi should have been a part of the new song. Fans are sure that Arijit has posted this tweet where he also mentioned that his kids prefer the original version, just like him. The tweet reads, “@alisethi you are amazing Wish you could join us in this. or even better wish you could sing it for the film. one personal thing my kids are not gonna gonfor the new one they love the original like father.”
Fans are lauding Arijit for giving a shoutout to his fellow artist and gracefully accepting that Ali did a better job at singing the song:
But that’s not it! When someone on Twitter asked why he didn’t reject the song even after being one of the top singers of Bollywood, Arjit had the most adorable reply. He shared, “The maker has promised me a yearly fund for a school for undee privileged thats more important thode gaali kha lenge (will take the abuse for this).”
While the new version certainly failed to hit the right spot, it is refreshing to see Arijit openly accepting it. Kudos!
