A couple of years ago, my friend had gotten her brows tattooed. That time, she was working as an Air Hostess and told me that filling and grooming them every day would get her late for the job. She even joked about tattooing her lips too because she detested reapplying her glossy red lipstick every two hours. Who knew that a lip tattoo aka lip blushing would come into existence today, right?
What Is Lip Blushing?

It’s basically a semi-permanent lip tattoo that’s done with the help of water-based inks that gives one the look and feel of a lipstick. While it helps to enhance your lip’s natural tint, it also makes them appear fuller and adds definition. The whole session takes about 40 mins to an hour to complete. It would take up to 7-10 days for your lips to heal and the final colour to set post the lip blushing procedure. This is how it’s done!
Oddly satisfying, no? If you like what you see, you can get this treatment done for Rs 4,800+taxes at ISAAC Luxe. According to Dr Geetika Mittal Gupta, Founder & Medical Director, ISAAC Luxe, explains that the ‘Lush Lips’ treatment that they offer at the clinic uses a patent booster and ampoule as well as nanoneedles to infuse the lip colour painlessly onto the client’s lips. She’s divided the whole process into 4 simple steps for us.
Step 1: ” We start the treatment by using a patient formulation to exfoliate chapped lips and also to disinfect and sanitise the lip area.”
Step 2: “After this, you’re ready to add some colour! We remove the ampoule i.e. colour of your choice in a small cup and apply it liberally according to your lip shape with the help of a brush.”
Step 3: “Then we use our patent needle (approx 2.5 mm) to infuse the colour onto your lips. We then leave it on for 2-3 minutes and re-apply on spots of your pout that need it. The idea is to make it look even and plump.”
Step 4: “Apply post-treatment ampoule and ta-da, your treatment is done!
Discolouration may happen more quickly depending on eating habits or life habits. It’s best to come in for a touch-up every 40-60 days. The colour can last longer if you apply lip tint continuously after treatment.”
Rule of thumb: Do a bit like research on the lip colour that you want before visiting the cosmetic tattoo artist. A day before you get your lip tattoo, keep away from anything that will cause the blood to thin like alcohol, caffeine, vitamin E and aspirin. Post the session, always coat your lips with a moisturising lip balm and keep away from spicy food, lip scrubs, sun exposure and working out. During the treatment, you could experience some pain. If you do, then ask the cosmetic tattoo artist if they can give you an anaesthetic or a numbing cream to prevent you from feeling any pain during the session. In spite of the pain, the final results do look amazing, right?
If you think you’ll get bored of the lip tattoo colour in a few months, you can always layer it with a rich pigmented lipstick. Tempted to try it now, are we?
