Pretty soon, we’d have the verdict on a new generation of star kids. Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies is all set to drop on Netflix and the excitement is next level. People are eager to watch Suhana Khan, Khushi Kapoor, and Agastya Nanda among others in lead roles. However, not everyone is happy with The Archies’ release announcement.
Some people on the internet are treating the buzz around this film as yet another excuse to attack the star kids. They have been trolling the film’s cast and talking about how everyone looks like a “clone of each other” in the poster. People are commenting on how this is a film created solely to endorse “nepotism” and will have no entertainment value for the audience. Here, check out some of the comments:
Currently, Suhana seems to be the biggest target for trolls though. They are discrediting her and assuming she got the part only ‘coz she is SRK’s daughter. Meanwhile, some people are expressing concerns about how her skin tone has been photoshopped in the film’s new poster to make her appear lighter.
While we do not condone the unwarranted criticism, this point about photoshopping Suhana’s skin tone sounds fair to me. While launching a new crop of star kids, the makers should be aiming to create a creative world free of primitive beauty stereotypes. However, they have done the exact opposite if they have actually lightened Suhana’s skin tone.
Unlike trolls, we have high hope for the film. Here’s hoping the makers absolve themselves with the final cut!
