Dear Anushka, Thanks For Showing Us That You Can Look Every Bit Bridal Without Going OTT!
Say wedding and a beautiful bride dressed in a red lehenga with a red bindi and red lipstick pops up in our heads. Most brides prefer an extravagant style for their big day, and well, why not?! Of course, it’s your special day. But an Indian bride is also seen as someone who would go for a heavy make-up look with a noticeable layer of foundation, multiple layers of mascara and most definitely a prominent lip colour. But that’s not always the case. We, as women, know that carrying that look for long is a task, especially when you are adorned with heavy jewellery and lavishly embroidered outfits. While it is the most chosen bridal look in India, many contemporary brides prefer to keep it low-key with minimal make-up, which rather adds focus to their elaborate jewellery and crafty lehenga. Some may say that pastel themes and no make-up look is not for Indian weddings but we think differently. All thanks to Anushka Sharma. Her fairytale wedding has assured us that it isn’t vital to go all out with your make-up and hair on your big day.
Anushka went for full smokey eyes but with nude lips and dewy skin at her engagement and that perfectly complemented her velvet saree and her flower bun. Brides have used flowers in their bun in the past but to sync each and every detail is inspiring.
While for their mehendi ceremony brides opt for something fancier such as fishtail braid, dutch braid or even waterfall braid, but the actress chose to let the hair loose and of course it looked beautiful.
Her wedding day make-up was again, kohl, eyeliner and muted pink lipstick. But the star had to be her floral bun. She didn’t use any fake bun, rather the arrangement of pastel-coloured hydrangeas in her bun sure made her the prettiest bride of the year.
With a hairstylist like Gabriel Georgiou and make-up artist like Puneet B Saini as a part of their dream team, Virushka’s wedding has sure convinced us to move our bridal goals from big fat weddings to romantic, fairytale weddings. So, what kind of a bride do you want to be?
