Arjun Kapoor & Janhvi Kapoor Defend Sister Anshula After She Receives Threats On Twitter
Anshula Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor’s 25-year-old sister, has become the recent target of trolls on social media. It started with the latest episode of Koffee With Karan when half-siblings Arjun Kapoor and Janhvi Kapoor came as guests and the host Karan Johar had playful banter with the two.
The Dhadak actress won the coffee hamper and in the last segment of the show, during the buzzer round of the show, both the actors had to call family members and get them to say, ‘Hey Karan, it’s me.’ Janhvi Kapoor decided to give her half-sister, Anshula Kapoor, a call for help to win the game round, when Arjun Kapoor intervened and asked Anshula not say the line or he wouldn’t come home. Anshula ended up getting confused because she couldn’t hear Janhvi. All was fun and games and Arjun ended up winning the round when their dad, Boney Kapoor, helped. Arjun presented the gift to lil sister Janhvi at the end of the show.

Unfortunately, the innocent game led to social media trolling of the former Google employee. After the episode aired on Sunday, Anshula Kapoor started receiving rape threats on Twitter. On 27th November, during her appearance on #SocialForChange, Janhvi Kapoor spoke to a leading newspaper about the situation.
“You want to protect the people in your life. Like, for example, my sister actually just recently got trolled on social media. She did something silly on Koffee With Karan and started getting, like, rape threats and stuff. And it was just weird to me,” the concerned sister confessed. “As people are faceless on social media, they feel they can have opinions that sometimes cross a moral line. So, when I put stuff that’s personal up on social media, I do think of that too. I feel protective towards them… what people might say about them or about my equation with them. You tend to be guarded,” she added.
Arjun Kapoor also tweeted about the situation and stood up for his sister.

A non-issue between siblings turned into an outrage on the internet and let’s be honest, don’t we have better things to talk about?
Previously, actress Deepika Padukone received death threats for playing the character of Padmavati, which delayed the release of the movie and the name was also changed from Padmavati to Padmaavat after a politician threatened to cut off Deepika’s nose. Bollywood celebrities including Shilpa Shetty Kundra, Parineeti Chopra, Priyanka Chopra, Taapsee Pannu and Lisa Haydon have been merciless trolled online and this social media bullying is getting out of control.
While most Bollywood celebrities talk about social media bullying in interviews, many have lashed out at abusers. However, the anonymous and faceless netizens have no legal ramifications and there’s certainly nothing stopping them from making more accounts to harass people online. International celebrities like Ed Sheeran and Adele have quit social media after getting targeted continuously and many take sabbaticals to get away from the negative comments.
If you can’t say anything good, don’t say anything at all – it’s high time the netizens understand this and live and let live.
