Ananya Panday & Sara Ali Khan Had An Acting Connection Even Before They Entered Bollywood

A newcomer who is taking Bollywood by storm, Ananya Panday will next be seen in Mudassar Aziz’s Pati, Patni Aur Woh. This remake of the 1978 classic, which also stars Kartik Aaryan and Bhumi Pednekar, recently wrapped up shooting.

In an interview with a leading daily, Ananya spoke at length about her role in the film. “It’s a very different film. I am playing a slightly older character in it, and she is very different from Shreya (her character in Student of the Year 2). The film, in general, is not exactly a remake, but the premise is the same. It’s a modernised version of the original film. I think it has a very relatable story, and people will enjoy watching it.”

After finishing the film, the team celebrated by throwing a big bash, from which we got this super cute video of Kartik smearing cake on Ananya’s face.

Ananya revealed in the interview that Kartik is one of her closest friends in the industry. “He is funny and constantly made me laugh while shooting. We have a comfortable equation,” she said. When asked about her equation with Sara Ali Khan, who is rumoured to be dating Kartik, she pointed out that she and Sara go way back. Apparently, Sara was her senior in high school. They belonged to the same house and participated in several drama competitions together.

Coming back to Pati Patni Aur Woh, Ananya explained that while it has the same title as the original, the story has been changed to make it more relevant to current times. “Times have changed so much that I don’t think that film is very relatable now. The characters in the original were kind of regressive and not fighting back. In our film, the women are more empowered, with strong dialogue, and fit into today’s world perfectly,” she said.

In the film, Kartik plays the role of Chintu Tyagi, while Bhumi plays his wife Vedica. Ananya plays the secretary who Chintu starts fancying, leading to lots of drama. The film is scheduled to hit the theatres on December 6.
