All You Need To Know About Yellow Fungus & Why It’s Deadlier Than White Or Black Fungus
We are over a year into the pandemic and are yet discovering new things about coronavirus. From new symptoms to new side effects, our battle with COVID-19 remains far from over.
Recently, new deadly fungal infections have caused an alarm in the country. There’s been a rapid increase in the number of black fungus cases and more recently, white fungus cases too. Now, there’s another reason to be concerned. After black and white fungus, cases of yellow fungus are also being reported. So what exactly is yellow fungus? Read on to find out more.
What Is Yellow Fungus?
Like black fungus and white fungus, yellow fungus too is a fungal infection. However, the main difference is that yellow fungus begins internally—unlike the other two where symptoms are visible. Since the symptoms aren’t visible, there’s often a delay in diagnosis, thus delaying treatment. Often, yellow fungus advances rapidly and chances of survival become low. This is why yellow fungus is far more deadly than the other two.
What Are Yellow Fungus Symptoms?
Symptoms of yellow fungus are loss of appetite, lethargy and weight loss. In the higher stages of the infection, patients also show severe symptoms such as sunken eyes, slow healing of wounds and oozing of pus from wounds. Even organ failure and necrosis- cell injury that leads to death of cells are deadly symptoms of yellow fungus.
Yellow Fungus Precautions:
Here are some precautions that you could take to protect yourself from the deadly fungus.
Keep Your Surroundings Tidy
Keep your home and surroundings as clean as possible. Fungus infections thrive in dirty, unhygienic conditions so it’s best to keep your area clean.
Eat Fresh Food
Please ensure you eat fresh food. Remove any stale food and fecal matter immediately and check bacteria and fungal growth. Don’t eat products that are expired and dispose of them immediately.
Maintain The Correct Humidity At Home:
Check the humidity of your home repeatedly. Excessive humidity promotes fungal growth. Even if you’re under quarantine in a room, please ensure you have clear fresh air flow.
Track Your Symptoms
If you’re COVID positive or have recently recovered, it would be wise to maintain a record of your symptoms. If you’re experiencing any of the above symptoms, then contact your doctor immediately. Time is everything when it comes to yellow fungus. So do not lose out on crucial time and contact your doctor ASAP.
Lastly, keep yourself updated, maintain track of all your symptoms and do not panic. We’ve said it a zillion times but we’ll say it again, stay home unless you absolutely have to step out. And when you do, ensure that you follow all safety precautions.
